A summer night dedicated to love amidst the alleys of a Madonie village
Every year, as summer approaches, Petralia Soprana joins the Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy, a national event inviting visitors to celebrate love among the stones, alleys, and panoramas of the peninsula's historic villages. Perched at over a thousand meters above sea level in the heart of the Madonie Park, in the province of Palermo, the village offers an exceptional setting: stone squares, noble palaces, and breathtaking views of the valley that, for one night, light up with soft glows and intimate atmospheres.
The event is promoted by the I Borghi piรน belli d'Italia Association, which brings together hundreds of small historic centers from all regions of the country, from the Aosta Valley to Sicily. On the same evening, over two hundred villages host concerts, live performances, readings, photo exhibitions, and art installations, culminating in the symbolic midnight kiss that ideally unites all the participating squares. The essence of the initiative lies in the promotion of local heritage and traditions, interpreted each year around a specific theme.
In Petralia Soprana, the Romantic Night is organized by the Pro Loco with the patronage of the Municipality, in collaboration with local associations and businesses. The evening unfolds throughout the historic center with several recurring highlights:
The Romantic Night is also an opportunity to discover Petralia Soprana and the entire Madonie region in Sicily: a mountain territory filled with forests, trails, local products, and medieval villages. The evening, held near the summer solstice, ideally inaugurates the village's summer season, often accompanied by further cultural and entertainment initiatives in the following days.
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, Petralia Soprana participated in the eleventh edition of the Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy, built nationally around the theme 'Love for Memories', a tribute to the places that continue to accompany us even from afar. The village program, curated by the Pro Loco with the patronage of the Municipality, included 'Poetry for the Village' readings at the Belvedere di Loreto, romantic-themed aperitifs and menus in local establishments, music and dancing in the square with Amedeo & Jolanda, and shops open for evening shopping.
The evening was part of a broader early summer weekend, with the debut of the vintage market in the following days. As a culmination of the national initiative, the customary midnight kiss ideally united the squares of over two hundred Italian villages.
Petralia Soprana can be reached by car from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway, taking the Tre Monzelli or Irosa exit and continuing towards the Madonie. The reference railway station is Castellana-Pollina-San Mauro, on the Palermo-Messina line, from which you can continue by car or local bus. The nearest airport is Palermo Falcone-Borsellino.
The event takes place on an evening in mid-June, around the summer solstice. Participation in the Romantic Night is free; aperitifs, themed menus, and any purchases at local establishments are paid. For information: tel. +39 345 5132171 or www.visitpetraliasoprana.it.
Comfortable shoes are recommended for the sloping alleys of the historic center, as well as a light jacket for the evening, given the village's altitude.
