The rock festival of May 1st in Traversetolo

In the heart of the Bassa Parmense, the Rock Festival May 1st in Traversetolo is much more than a concert: it is a tradition that the Municipality, in the province of Parma, proudly preserves. Considered the longest-running music event in the province of Parma, it has been held continuously since 1997 (with the only forced break due to the pandemic) and each year it attracts the public, emerging bands, and established names from the Emilian independent scene to the town.

Three stages for all genres

The formula that has made the festival famous is that of the three stages distributed among the squares and courtyards of the historic center, each with its own musical identity:

• Palco Corte, set up in the evocative Corte Agresti: this is the main stage, dedicated to rock, blues, soul, and singer-songwriter music, with the possibility of moving indoors under the arcades in case of rain.
• Palco Cesari, in Piazza Mazzini: space for the indie and alternative rock scene, with local bands and projects.
• Palco Hip Hop World, in Piazza Vittorio Veneto: entirely dedicated to the urban scene, featuring rappers, producers, and DJs.

The program embraces so many musical languages — blues, soul, rock, pop, rap, and trap — making the festival a meeting point between different generations and genres.

Not just music

Throughout the day, from early afternoon until night, the streets of Traversetolo come alive with street performers, stalls selling vinyl records, CDs, and books, craft markets, inflatables and games for children, as well as food and wine stalls with typical flavors of the province of Parma. The day traditionally ends with a fire show in the center of the town.

A free-admission event in Emilia-Romagna

Organized by the Pro Loco of Traversetolo in collaboration with the Municipal Administration, the Rock Festival May 1st has always had free admission and is held regularly even in case of bad weather. For the public of Emilia-Romagna and for those coming from outside the province, it is now one of the symbolic events to open the outdoor music season.
