The largest collectibles market in the province of Reggio Emilia
Once a month, the historic center of Cavriago, in the province of Reggio Emilia, changes its appearance: stalls, tables, and colorful cloths invade Piazza Zanti and via Rivasi, bringing to life the Historical Antiques Market, also known as "Antichità in Piazza". It is now the largest market for collectibles and "things of the past" in the entire province, an eagerly awaited event that draws visitors from Reggio Emilia, the Po Valley, and neighboring provinces.
The exhibitors, around 180-200 at each edition, mainly offer small antiques, modern antiques, and collectible items. Strolling along the streets of the center, you might come across:
It is the realm of collectors and vintage enthusiasts, but also an opportunity for those looking for an original piece of furniture or a small souvenir from the past at often negotiable prices.
The market began in May 1994 with just twelve exhibitors gathered in Piazza Zanti. In just over thirty years, it has grown to become the large event it is today, organized by the Pro Loco of Cavriago with the support of the Municipality. Its regularity — the third Sunday of every month except August — has made it one of the reference points in the exhibition-market calendar of Emilia-Romagna.
Visiting the market is also an opportunity to discover Cavriago, a lively municipality in the Reggio Emilia area known for its civic tradition and welcoming center. Bars, cafes, and local shops remain open on market Sundays, so the stroll among the stalls can easily be combined with a delicious break or a tour of the town center.
In 2026, the market will maintain its historical schedule: the third Sunday of each month, with the exception of August. The opening hours remain from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, in Piazza Zanti and along via Rivasi, in the center of Cavriago.
Every market Sunday, about 180-200 exhibitors offer small antiques, vintage furniture, prints, ceramics, books, records, coins, and collectible items. Admission is free. In case of bad weather or holidays, it is advisable to check with the Pro Loco of Cavriago for confirmation.
As this is a monthly antiques market, there is no program of shows, but a day of exhibition and sale from morning to early afternoon:
