The contemporary circus festival of Reggio Emilia
The Dinamico Festival is the main event for contemporary circus, street theatre, and live music in the city of Reggio Emilia, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Born in 2010 from the energy of the Associazione Dinamica, in just a few years it has become one of the most anticipated and popular events on Reggio's cultural calendar, capable of bringing acrobats, clowns, dancers, and street artists from all over Europe to the city.
What makes Dinamico special is its distributed nature: the shows are not concentrated in a single arena but are spread across some of Reggio Emilia's most evocative locations. The green space of Parco del Popolo hosts the big top and shows under the stars, the Teatro Cavallerizza welcomes more intimate creations, while the Officine Creative Reggiane — the regenerated former industrial area — and the Cooperativa La Collina add new spaces. In recent years, the event has also taken over the very central Piazza della Vittoria.
The festival is above all a community experience. Alongside the artistic programming, there is a packed schedule of side activities: craft and organic markets, a massage area, a tarot reading corner, screen-printing workshops, workshops for families and children, a wooden funfair, and a rich food area that showcases local products, with a particular focus on the biodynamic supply chain and local wine.
The Dinamico Festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, as well as the Fondazione Manodori. This recognition confirms the event's role as a national benchmark for new circus and as a driver of cultural and social regeneration for the city.
The Dinamico Festival returns to Reggio Emilia for its sixteenth edition, scheduled from September 9 to 19, 2026. The contemporary circus festival confirms its distributed format that has made it famous, with shows taking place across Parco del Popolo, Teatro Cavallerizza, Officine Creative Reggiane, and Cooperativa La Collina.
As every year, alongside the programme of acrobatics, street theatre, and concerts, the festival will offer markets, workshops, a dining area, and moments of connection that make Dinamico an experience of community as well as art.
The full programme, including the names of the companies and show times, will be published on the official website in the months preceding the event.
The detailed program for the 16th edition (companies, shows, times, and concerts) will be announced in the months preceding the event and published on the official website dinamicofestival.it.
Based on past editions, expect a schedule of about two weeks featuring contemporary circus, street theatre, and clown shows, evening concerts, talks, and workshops, in addition to the usual side activities: craft and organic markets, children's workshops, a massage area, and local food.
Contemporary circus companies from all over Europe, shows under the stars at Parco del Popolo, live concerts, and a distributed format across multiple city venues. Line-up to be announced.
Reggio Emilia is easily reachable by train: the Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana station (high-speed line Milan-Bologna) and the historic city centre station connect the city to all of Italy. By car, take the Reggio Emilia exit from the A1 motorway.
The shows take place between Parco del Popolo, Teatro Cavallerizza (Viale Allegri 8/a), Officine Creative Reggiane (Via Tonale 4), Cooperativa La Collina, and Piazza della Vittoria, all reachable on foot or by public transport from the centre.
Numerous shows are free to enter; for paid shows, pre-sales open a few weeks in advance on the official website dinamicofestival.it. Advance booking is recommended for shows under the big top.
