About Parma Danza

Parma Danza is the dance season of the Teatro Regio di Parma, the renowned theatre in the Emilian city that is the homeland of Giuseppe Verdi. Every year, it brings major Italian and international classical and contemporary ballet companies to its prestigious stage. The 2026 edition runs from February to December with six performances, including Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, the Maribor Ballet, Aterballetto, and a world premiere by Artemis Danza, culminating in a Christmas finale with a live performance of Swan Lake.

Parma Danza, authorial dance on the stage of the Teatro Regio

Parma Danza is the festival that transforms the Teatro Regio di Parma into one of the leading dance venues in Italy every season. In the heart of the Municipality of Parma, the capital of the homonymous Province in Emilia-Romagna, the glorious theatre commissioned by Maria Luigia of Austria opens its historic stage to the most important Italian and international classical and contemporary ballet companies. It is an event that ideally dialogues with the city's great musical and operatic tradition, the homeland of Giuseppe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini.

A programme between classical and contemporary

The strength of Parma Danza lies in its balance: alongside timeless repertoire titles โ€“ from Romรฉo et Juliette to Swan Lake โ€“ the festival presents the most innovative choreographies of the contemporary scene, featuring renowned names such as Jean-Christophe Maillot, Edward Clug, and Marcos Morau. Each year, the audience can thus follow a journey that spans different eras and styles, from the romantic narrative of 19th-century ballet to the abstract research of today's dance.

Not just performances: Dance behind the scenes

Parma Danza extends beyond the stage. The project Dance Behind the Scenes accompanies the season with meetings, open rehearsals, and free masterclasses held by the dancers and choreographers of the guest companies. A valuable opportunity for local dance schools and enthusiasts to get closer to the artists' daily work, discovering what happens before the curtain rises.

The Teatro Regio, an exceptional setting

Attending Parma Danza also means experiencing one of Italy's most beloved theatres. Inaugurated in 1829, the Teatro Regio is famous for its acoustics, its elegant stalls, and its audience, among the most discerning and knowledgeable in the country. The neoclassical hall, with its four tiers of boxes and gallery, offers dance a setting of rare beauty, capable of enhancing every gesture on stage.
