A musical tribute in the heart of the Alta Langa

The Church of San Lorenzo in Feisoglio, in the municipality of the same name in the province of Cuneo, hosts a tribute concert dedicated to Roberto Goitre, one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Italian choral and music pedagogy. The event, organized by the Municipality of Feisoglio, was created to celebrate an important milestone for the community: the restoration of the historic "Giacomo Filippo Landesio - 1749" organ, the instrument housed within the parish church that finally returns to play after its conservation work.

The Landesio organ, a treasure of Piedmontese heritage

The organ of the Church of San Lorenzo bears the inscription "Opus Jacob Phil. Landei a Centallo" and is one of the most interesting historic instruments in the area. Its dating, marked on the instrument as 1749, places it among the valuable organ-building testimonies of Piedmont. The concert represents the public moment of returning the instrument to the citizens, following the restoration work that recovered its original sound. The parish church, whose origins date back to the 15th century and which was remodeled in the Baroque era, preserves remarkable works of art inside, including a 16th-century fresco that emerged during the work.

The figure of Roberto Goitre

Born in Turin in 1927 and passing away in 1980, Roberto Goitre was a composer, choir director, and music educator. He is best known for his teaching method Cantar leggendo (1972), which reworks the principles of Zoltán Kodály's pedagogy and the idea of the "movable do" to teach music as a language, accessible to all and not a privilege of the few. Founder of the University of Turin Choir and the Piccoli Cantori di Torino, Goitre left a legacy that is still fundamental in Italian choral training today: dedicating a concert to him on the occasion of the return to life of a historic organ is a gesture that ideally unites the memory of the great teacher and the enhancement of the territory's musical heritage.
