The free cultural summer festival of Rome's Municipio XIII Aurelio
rEstate in Tredicesimo is the summer cultural festival promoted and fully funded by the Municipio Roma XIII Aurelio, in the western part of Rome, Lazio. Now in its fifth edition in 2026, the event brings free shows, cinema, and music to the heart of neighborhood life, from local markets to the historic greenery of Villa Carpegna. The administration's stated goal is to transform everyday spaces into opportunities for meeting and socializing, offering accessible, local culture.
The 2026 edition runs from July 8 to August 2 across three main venues in the Municipio XIII area: Mercato Irnerio, Villa Carpegna, and Mercato Borgo Ticino. The festival opens with film screenings at Mercato Irnerio, continues with a week of live performances at Villa Carpegna, and concludes with open-air cinema at Mercato Borgo Ticino. Artistic direction is provided by the association Imprenditori di Sogni, in collaboration with Artenova.
The heart of the live performances is the week at Villa Carpegna, from July 15 to 19. The evenings, starting at 9:00 PM, alternate between Southern Italian folk music, comedy, and cabaret: from Nando Citarella and the Tamburi del Vesuvio to the comedy of Gianfranco Phino, and Enrico Capuano's Tammurriata Rock. The program also includes the plays "Di padre ce n'รจ uno solo" and "Dal Vesuvio al Cupolone". In the late afternoon, from 5:00 PM, the villa hosts creative workshops and recreational activities designed for children and families.
The festival gives ample space to open-air cinema. After the first part at Mercato Irnerio, the program moves to Mercato Borgo Ticino from July 29 to August 2, with evening screenings at 9:00 PM featuring family films and recent hits. These free neighborhood arenas have become a staple of the Roman summer and one of the most distinctive features of this event.
rEstate in Tredicesimo is a cultural project designed for the territory and its communities: all events are free and held in spaces easily accessible to residents of the Aurelio, Aurelio Sud, and surrounding neighborhoods. The initiative is part of the cultural program of the Municipio Roma XIII and confirms the festival's commitment to enhancing local spaces, from neighborhood markets to historic parks, as centers of culture and community during the summer months in the Capital.
The 2026 edition, the fifth, is divided into three phases between July 8 and August 2: cinema at Mercato Irnerio, the week of live shows at Villa Carpegna (July 15-19), and cinema under the stars at Mercato Borgo Ticino (July 29-August 2). Artistic direction by Imprenditori di Sogni with Artenova. All events have free admission.
The festival opens with film screenings at Mercato Irnerio from July 8. Activities and workshops for children in the late afternoon.
The venues are located in the Aurelio quadrant, west of Rome (Municipio XIII). Villa Carpegna is accessible via local bus lines; the Irnerio and Borgo Ticino markets are located within the urban fabric of the district. By car, the recommended exits are from Circonvallazione Cornelia or Via Aurelia.
All shows, screenings, and workshops are free. Evening shows start at 9:00 PM, with children's activities in the late afternoon from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
For open-air cinema, it is advisable to arrive a little early to secure a seat. Check the updated program on the official channels of the Municipio Roma XIII Aurelio.
