Free sunset yoga and Tai Chi in Rome's historic parks
VIVI – Sun Salutation is the annual summer series of free yoga that turns the lawns of Rome's historic parks into a vast space dedicated to wellness, breathing, and outdoor living. Promoted by VIVI, a benefit corporation and B-Corp that manages eco-friendly bistros in the capital's parks, the event reached its thirteenth edition in 2026 and remains one of the most beloved and well-attended highlights of the Roman summer.
The heart of the series is Villa Doria Pamphili, Rome's largest urban park, where classes are held every evening on the lawn in front of the VIVI bistro, with entrance from Via Vitellia 102, in the Municipio XII district. As the sun sets, dozens of people unroll their mats to practice the Sun Salutation together, welcoming both beginners and experienced practitioners.
Since 2025, the project has expanded with a second location in the greenery of Villa Borghese, at the VIVI – Galleria Borghese space, bringing evening yoga to another of the Eternal City's iconic parks.
The calendar goes beyond yoga classes. Every Wednesday, the program is enriched with Tai Chi sessions—a discipline combining slow movement, balance, and focus—as well as activities designed for children like Yoga Kids, to involve the whole family. On special occasions, such as the International Day of Yoga in June, longer masterclasses with live music are organized.
VIVI's philosophy is to make wellness accessible to everyone: classes are completely free and require no booking. To participate, simply show up with your mat and activate the ViVi Green Card online, a free membership card that grants access to the community and the association's initiatives. The series is sponsored by Municipio XII of Rome Capital and supported by numerous partners linked to the organic and wellness sectors.
Born in Rome, Lazio, the series has become a model over the years for how urban parks can transform into places of social interaction, movement, and self-care. Practicing yoga at sunset under the pines of Villa Pamphili, with the capital's skyline in the background, is an experience that blends nature, wellness traditions, and community life, representing one of the most characteristic free events of the Roman summer.
The series returns to Villa Doria Pamphili from Tuesday, June 2 to Sunday, September 13, 2026, with yoga classes every evening from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM on the lawn of the VIVI bistro. A new feature this year is the expansion to VIVI – Galleria Borghese, where classes are held from July 1 to July 31, 2026, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
