Every June 2nd, Verzuolo Castle becomes the focal point for Republic Day celebrations in the town of Verzuolo, in the province of Cuneo, nestled in the heart of the Piedmontese Saluzzo area. For one day, the park and the manor's halls transform into a space for gathering, discovery, and conviviality, thanks to a program that weaves together culture, taste, and entertainment for all ages.

A manor rich in history

Verzuolo Castle was built in 1377 by Marquis Federico II of Saluzzo upon the ruins of an ancient stronghold. Occupying a strategic position in medieval Piedmont, it featured the Santa Cristina Tower, which allowed communication with neighboring castles—Manta, Saluzzo, and Revello—via smoke or light signals. Today, it is managed by the Pro Loco Villa di Verzuolo, which brings it to life with tours, cultural events, and local initiatives.

What to expect during the day

Republic Day at the castle is designed as a full-day experience, where everyone can create their own itinerary between tours, dining, and games:

• Free guided tours (by reservation) to explore the castle and its fascinating dungeons;
• Traditional 'tricolor' lunch in the manor's halls, or a casual picnic at the park tables;
• Play area open all day with board games and drawing materials;
• Scala 40 tournament in the afternoon, an individual competition up to 151 points.

An event for families and curious minds

Between a visit to the dungeons and a card game in the shade of the trees, the day at the castle combines the pleasure of historical discovery with the joy of good food and the ease of being together.
