The premier sacred music festival of Trentino-Alto Adige
The Regional Sacred Music Festival is one of the longest-running and most deeply rooted cultural events in Trentino-Alto Adige. Organized by the Regional Sacred Music Festival ETS, with headquarters in Trento (at the Diocesan Seminary on Corso III Novembre) and Bolzano, the festival brings great spiritual music to the churches, cathedrals, and concert halls of the two autonomous provinces each year, uniting regional capitals and valley communities in one grand program.
The 55th edition reaffirms the festival's itinerant nature, with over fifty concerts held throughout the region between spring and early summer. The opening is dedicated to the music of Alessandro Scarlatti in the churches of Mezzano and Tione, featuring the Vox Cordis choir and the Labirinti Armonici ensemble. The central theme of this edition is the The Other Side of the Sacred project, culminating in the performance of Gaetano Donizetti's Requiem Mass.
The capital city hosts some of the most anticipated events, spread between the Cathedral, the Church of San Francesco Saverio, the Church of Santa Chiara, the Diocesan Seminary, and the Sala Filarmonica. The highlight is the extraordinary concert by the King's Singers in the Cathedral, celebrating the centenary of the SAT and SOSAT mountaineering societies: an event that bridges Trentino's choral tradition with the voices of one of the world's most celebrated vocal ensembles.
From Renaissance and Baroque repertoire to contemporary premieres, the festival highlights the region's choral, organ, and liturgical heritage. The program pairs parish choirs and amateur groups with prominent orchestras and soloists, such as the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, providing a stage for both local artistic talent and international performers.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Autonomous Region of Trentino-Alto Adige, the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano, and the Municipalities of Trento and Bolzano, the festival is much more than a concert season: it is a journey that invites you to discover the churches and artistic landmarks of the region through music, in a constant dialogue between spirituality and culture.
The 2026 edition of the Regional Sacred Music Festival brought some of its most prestigious events to Trento. Concerts in Trento are held in the historic center (Cathedral, San Francesco Saverio, Santa Chiara, Diocesan Seminary, Sala Filarmonica), just a few minutes' walk from the Trento train station, which is well-connected along the Brenner line. By car, take the Trento Centro exit on the A22 Brenner motorway.
Many concerts offer free admission until capacity is reached; for major events, it is recommended to check access details and potential booking requirements on the official website festivalmusicasacra.eu.
The festival takes place in multiple locations across Trento, Bolzano, and the valleys: we recommend checking the program to plan your travel between the different municipalities of the region.
