The Red Bull X-Days are a series of events accompanying the South Tyrolean leg of the Red Bull X-Alps, described by organizers as the world's toughest adventure race. They take place in the municipality of Schenna and on the Meran 2000 plateau, in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of Trentino-South Tyrol. When the race caravan crosses the Merano basin, the sunny village above Merano comes alive with flights, shows, films, and music dedicated to the world of Hike & Fly and paragliding.

The Race: Hike & Fly across the Alps

The Red Bull X-Alps is a biennial competition where athletes traverse the Alps solely on foot and by paraglider, without motorized transport, covering daily distances that can exceed 150 kilometers and elevation gains of up to 4,000 meters. The route connects dozens of turnpoints across Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and France. In South Tyrol, athletes must tackle the Heini-Holzer via ferrata on the Ifinger, then reach the Kuhleitenhütte turnpoint at 2,361 meters on Meran 2000, before gliding toward the Schenna turnpoint.

A Mountain Festival Open to Everyone

The X-Days are not just for specialists: the program is designed for sports enthusiasts, families, and the curious. Activities include sunrise paragliding flights, tandem flights with mountain stops, the Hike & Fly Fun Challenge that allows the public to touch the turnpoints like the pros, a flight simulator, air shows, and charity flights. The race is broadcast via live stream in the village, accompanied by DJ sets and live concerts.

Cinema, Meetings, and Special Guests

The X-Days calendar features film screenings and meetings with mountain sports stars: presentations of mountaineering and skiing films, multimedia talks with South Tyrolean alpinists and athletes, and autograph sessions. The highlight is traditionally the Red Bull Special Edition evening, featuring live bands, a Red Bull aperitif, and an exclusive film screening, turning the center of Schenna into a major summer gathering spot.

Set among vineyards, mountain farms, and scenic trails above Merano, the Red Bull X-Days showcase the alpine landscape of South Tyrol and Schenna's reputation as a destination for hiking, paragliding, and active tourism. The event is free and promoted by the Schenna Tourist Office in collaboration with Meran 2000 and local flying clubs.
