About Rebe – Wine Hiking

Rebe – Wine Hiking and Tasting is an autumn gourmet walk winding along the wine trail of the same name between Signato and Rencio, at the foot of the Renon Plateau in the province of Bolzano. Along approximately 3.5 kilometers of vineyards, winemakers offer tastings of thirteen wines across five stops, while the day concludes at the Ansitz Waldgries with chestnuts, local specialties, and music.

Rebe – Wine Hiking and Tasting: walking through the vineyards of Renon

Rebe – Wine Hiking and Tasting is an autumn gourmet event that combines hiking with wine culture in the municipality of Renon/Ritten, in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol. The event takes place along the Rebe wine trail, a route of about 3.5 kilometers that connects the village of Signato/Signat, on the Renon Plateau, to the Rencio/Rentsch district at the gates of Bolzano.

A trail through vineyards, art, and panoramas

The path descends gently through vine-covered slopes, passes through the village of Santa Giustina, and reaches the historic Ansitz Waldgries in Rencio, covering an elevation change of about 500 meters. Along the way, visitors encounter ten art installations by sculptor Filip Doss Moroder, designed to tell the story of the wine world and the thirteen grape varieties grown on these slopes. The trail is suitable for families, but sturdy footwear is required due to the mixed terrain of dirt, gravel, and asphalt.

Five tasting stops

During the event, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the winemakers of Signato and Maddalena welcome walkers at five tasting points set up right where the vines grow. At each station, local wines are sampled, for a total of thirteen labels linked to the different altitudes and exposures of the vineyards between Renon and Bolzano. The walk can be taken freely in either direction: starting from Polden in Signato heading downhill, or from the Ansitz Waldgries in Rencio heading uphill.

The closing party at the Ansitz Waldgries

From 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the day concludes with a convivial gathering at the Ansitz Waldgries, where participants can enjoy culinary specialties, roasted chestnuts, and live music in a relaxed atmosphere, typical of the South Tyrolean autumn and the Törggelen tradition. The event, organized by the Renon Tourist Association, celebrates the long winemaking history of this corner of South Tyrol and represents an authentic way to discover the landscape, products, and culture of Renon.
