About Colline in Musica – Cortemilia

Colline in Musica is an itinerant classical and chamber music festival held every June across the Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato regions. The Cortemilia stop, in the heart of the Alta Langa in the province of Cuneo, brings world-renowned performers to the former Convent of the Franciscans. For the 2026 edition, themed 'Roots' (Radici), the audience will enjoy violinist Kai Gleusteen and pianist Catherine Ordronneau on a journey through Bach, Enescu, and Nin. Free admission subject to availability.

A festival spread across UNESCO heritage hills

Colline in Musica is an itinerant classical and chamber music festival that weaves together concerts, historic sites, and landscapes across the Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato regions every June. The Cortemilia stop, located in the Alta Langa area of the province of Cuneo (Piedmont Region), is one of the most anticipated events, bringing great music to the evocative setting of the former Convent of the Franciscans, also known as the Church of San Francesco.

The 2026 edition: The theme of 'Roots'

The sixth edition of the festival, titled RADICI – Colline in Musica, focuses on the roots of European music and their folk transformations. This theme resonates naturally with the Alta Langa territory, which is deeply tied to its rural and cultural identity. The festival is organized by the MUST association in collaboration with the I'm Exchange Association, under the artistic direction of Adrian Pinzaru.

The Cortemilia concert

The Cortemilia stop takes place on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 6:30 PM and features two internationally acclaimed performers: violinist Kai Gleusteen and pianist Catherine Ordronneau, a duo for over twenty years, fresh from a twenty-two-concert tour in China.

  • Johann Sebastian Bach – Sonata No. 3
  • George Enescu – Sonata Op. 25
  • Joaquín Nin – Spanish Folk Songs

A program that traverses Baroque rigor, Eastern European folk influences, and the Mediterranean colors of the Iberian tradition, perfectly in line with the 'Roots' theme.

A festival looking to the future

In addition to evenings with great performers, Colline in Musica dedicates ample space to young talent. After Cortemilia, the 2026 calendar continues with stops in Castagnito, Piobesi d'Alba, and, from June 19 to 21, events dedicated to young musicians in Grinzane Cavour, Mango, and Alba. This approach makes the festival not just a concert series, but an opportunity for discovery and growth for new generations of musicians.

Why it's worth attending

Attending a Colline in Musica concert in Cortemilia means combining top-tier repertoire with the discovery of an Alta Langa village and its historic spaces. Free admission makes the event accessible to everyone, making it an ideal experience for those visiting the Piedmont hills in June.
