A celebration of blue fish, local gastronomy, and the traditions of a charming seaside village
The Porticello Fest – Blue Fish Festival takes place in Porticello, a picturesque fishing village part of the municipality of Santa Flavia, along the renowned 'Costa d'Oro' in the province of Palermo. The event celebrates the heart and soul of this fishing community: blue fish, the absolute star of local cuisine and economy, ranging from sardines and anchovies to the prized tuna of the Tyrrhenian tradition.
The event is held at Piano Stenditore, the square overlooking the port of Porticello, which is transformed for the occasion into a grand 'village of taste'. Throughout the three days, visitors can enjoy cooking shows with local chefs, masterclasses, and tastings dedicated to maritime culture, alongside a large food area featuring local specialties, street food, and the daily catch.
Evenings blend gastronomy with live entertainment. The 2026 program features cabaret, DJ sets, and music, hosted by comedian and showman Sergio Friscia for the grand finale. The lineup also includes pop and indie music selections, with activities designed for families and children.
Beyond the flavors, Porticello Fest highlights environmental sustainability and responsible fishing, with talks and meetings dedicated to the tourism and economic future of the Costa d'Oro and the nearby archaeological site of Solunto, which overlooks the gulf. The initiative is part of the regional program 'Sicilia che piace', promoted by the Regional Department of Productive Activities, and is organized by the Municipality of Santa Flavia.
Visiting Porticello Fest is the perfect opportunity to explore one of the most authentic seaside villages in Sicily: the fish market, the colorful boats moored at the docks, the nearby Aspra with its marinas, and the ancient city of Solunto make Santa Flavia an ideal destination for those seeking sea, archaeology, and traditional cuisine just a few kilometers from Palermo.
The 2026 edition of Porticello Fest inaugurated the event with three days dedicated to blue fish and the maritime culture of Santa Flavia. The gastronomic village of Piano Stenditore hosted cooking shows with local chefs, masterclasses, tastings, and a wide area dedicated to seafood street food.
The evening lineup alternated shows and music: Friday, June 19, featured cabaret with Stefano Piazza, Saturday, June 20, a pop and indie music selection, and Sunday, June 21, the Crazy Disco Dance Night with DJ sets and entertainment by Sergio Friscia. The event, organized by the Municipality of Santa Flavia, was funded by the Sicilian Region as part of the 'Sicilia che piace' initiative.
Porticello is a district of the Municipality of Santa Flavia (PA), about 20 km from Palermo. By car, it can be reached via the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (exit Casteldaccia or Bagheria), following signs for Santa Flavia and Porticello. By train, the reference station is Santa Flavia-Solunto-Porticello on the Palermo-Messina line, located a short distance from the port.
Events take place at Piano Stenditore, at the port of Porticello. Evenings generally begin in the late afternoon with the opening of the food area and continue late into the night with shows and DJ sets.
Access to the event area and evening shows is generally free; food and drinks at the stalls are available for purchase. For the final program and updates, we recommend checking the official channels of the Municipality of Santa Flavia.
