Contemporary chamber music in the Madonie mountains, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica
The Polizzi Chamber Music Festival (also known as the Polizzi Chamber Music Fest) is a young yet highly acclaimed contemporary chamber and ensemble music series held in Polizzi Generosa, an ancient village perched at an altitude of over 900 meters in the heart of the Madonie Park, in the province of Palermo. The festival offers a musical journey featuring trios, quartets, and chamber ensembles, showcasing both contemporary repertoire and original works by Sicilian and international composers.
The beating heart of the festival is the Auditorium Parco della Musica, located inside the former church of San Francesco, which was one of the town's largest and most opulent sacred buildings until its roof collapsed in 1917. Restored and transformed into a music venue and inaugurated in 2024, the auditorium provides a uniquely evocative setting where the acoustics and history of the site engage with the notes of the guest ensembles.
The series is promoted by the Municipality of Polizzi Generosa, the Giacomo Cuticchio Ensemble Association, and the Giuseppe Antonio Borgese Literary Park, named after the writer and critic born in Polizzi Generosa. The festival was launched with the support of the Ministry of Culture and funding from the European Union under the NextGenerationEU program, reflecting a cultural project dedicated to enhancing the musical and architectural heritage of the Madonie.
The Polizzi Chamber Music Festival has established itself as a precious event for classical music lovers seeking an intimate, high-quality experience, far from the mainstream circuits and immersed in the authentic beauty of the Sicilian mountains.
