About Polenta Solidale

In Roaschia, a small village in the Valle Gesso near Cuneo, the Polenta Solidale is a community day dedicated to great food and generosity. Organized by the local Pro Loco, the event brings together residents, holidaymakers, and hikers around long tables in Piazza Monte Ortigara, accompanied by live music. All proceeds are donated to the Istituto Imberti Grandis nursing home in Valdieri, a vital resource for families in the valley.

A day of community and solidarity in Roaschia

The Polenta Solidale is one of the most cherished summer events in Roaschia, a small mountain village in the Valle Gesso, located in the province of Cuneo within the Maritime Alps Natural Park. This is not a high-profile media festival, but an authentic village celebration built on three simple, precious ingredients: good food, music, and solidarity. The event is promoted by the Pro Loco of Roaschia, which gathers residents, visitors, and hikers every year to spend a wonderful Sunday together.

Polenta takes center stage in Piazza Monte Ortigara

The heart of the day is polenta, a traditional Piedmontese peasant dish and a symbol of conviviality. Long tables are set up in Piazza Monte Ortigara, where guests can enjoy polenta prepared by local volunteers in a friendly atmosphere filled with smiles, conversation, and new acquaintances. It is the perfect opportunity to rediscover the genuine flavors of the Cuneo mountains and to reconnect with friends and neighbors in one of the most characteristic villages of the Valle Gesso.

Live music and a festive atmosphere

The lunch is accompanied by live music: in recent editions, entertainment was provided by the duo I dui Pais, which made the atmosphere even more pleasant and festive. Singing, laughter, and folk melodies provide the backdrop for a day designed to foster togetherness, in the most genuine spirit of Piedmontese village festivals.

An event with a generous heart

What makes the Polenta Solidale special is its charitable purpose: all proceeds from the day are donated to the Istituto Imberti Grandis nursing home in Valdieri, an important institution for the Valle Gesso and many local families. Enjoying a plate of polenta thus becomes a concrete gesture of support for the community, perfectly balancing gastronomic tradition with social commitment. The festival is supported by the Roaschia municipal administration and the collaboration of local volunteers.

Why attend

  • Taste traditional polenta prepared by Pro Loco volunteers;
  • Experience the authentic atmosphere of a village festival in the Valle Gesso;
  • Enjoy live music in the square;
  • Support a charitable cause for the Valdieri nursing home;
  • Discover Roaschia and the nature of the Maritime Alps Park.

The Polenta Solidale is a small but significant festival that captures the soul of the Cuneo mountains: community, hospitality, and generosity in an authentic corner of Piedmont.
