Three days of flavor, tradition, and Occitan culture in the heart of the Valle Grana
For nearly half a century, the Caraglio and Valle Grana Autumn Fair has been the most anticipated autumn event in the town of Caraglio, located in the heart of the Cuneo province, Piedmont. For an entire weekend, the historic town center comes alive with colors, aromas, and flavors: over 300 exhibitors fill the streets and squares with stalls dedicated to local specialties, handicrafts, antiques, and the valley's agricultural excellence.
The delicious heart of the event is the Castelmagno Gnocchi Festival, which for over twenty years has celebrated the dish that made the Valle Grana famous far beyond regional borders. Under the Palagnocco, the covered area set up in Piazza Cavour, visitors can enjoy gnocchi topped with Castelmagno PDO, one of Italy's oldest and most prized alpine cheeses. Complementing this is the territory's other signature product: the Aglio di Caraglio (Caraglio Garlic), protected by a dedicated Consortium.
The Fair is much more than a gastronomic event. Each year, the program weaves together exhibitions, book presentations, sports performances, and moments of local cultural heritage. Traditional highlights include:
Organized by the Pro Loco Insieme per Caraglio Tourist Association in collaboration with the Municipality, the Autumn Fair is the result of the work of dozens of volunteers and represents an authentic community heritage. Thousands of visitors reach Caraglio every year from all over Piedmont, drawn by the combination of fine dining, folk traditions, and the landscapes of the Valle Grana, at the foot of Monviso.
From September 25 to 27, 2026, the 48th Caraglio and Valle Grana Autumn Fair returns to Caraglio, accompanied by the new edition of the Castelmagno Gnocchi Festival. The dates are official and registered in the Piedmont regional calendar of trade fair events for 2026.
This year, the historic center will once again host over 300 exhibitors, stalls featuring local products, Aglio di Caraglio, and Castelmagno PDO, along with the usual events: vintage tractors, dairy workshops, Occitan dances, children's entertainment, and the grand fireworks display. The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including times, guests, and initiatives, will be published by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
Caraglio is located in the Valle Grana, about 12 km from Cuneo. By car: take the A6 Turin-Savona motorway, exit at Cuneo, then follow the SP road to Valle Grana. By train: arrive at Cuneo station, then take the bus to Caraglio.
The event takes place on the last weekend of September, from Friday to Sunday. Admission to the Fair is free; stalls and markets are open all day.
Castelmagno gnocchi can be enjoyed under the Palagnocco in Piazza Cavour. Seating is limited, so reservations are recommended. For information and bookings: tel. +39 346 1546124, e-mail [email protected].
