Poirino in Festa: A convivial summer in the Pianalto

Poirino in Festa is the popular festival that transforms Piazza Morioni, in the center of Poirino, into a vibrant outdoor gathering space every June. Organized by the Pro Loco of Poirino, the event spans two evenings dedicated to fine dining, music, and socializing, capturing the true spirit of local summer celebrations.

Where and when

The event takes place in Poirino, a key agricultural hub of the Pianalto in the Province of Turin, Piedmont. The festivities kick off in the evening with the opening of the kitchen and the start of the musical program, continuing late into the night with dancing and social moments.

The barbecue and fine cuisine

The heart of the festival is the barbecue dinner, served at tables set up in the square. The traditional menu typically includes:

• Piedmontese appetizers such as raw beef (carne cruda), Langhe-style salad, and tomini cheese;
• A mixed grill of pork ribs, rustichella, sausages, and frankfurters served with fries;
• Desserts such as lemon sorbet and panna cotta;
• A dedicated children's menu and, late at night, the classic sausage sandwich (panino con la salamella).

The bar is well-stocked with beer, wine, cocktails, digestifs, and soft drinks to accompany the meals and the dance floor.

Music and entertainment

Each evening is accompanied by live music and DJ sets, featuring orchestras, dance entertainment, and music selections that keep the square moving until late. A traditional highlight of the festival is the participation of the local Leva (the town's youth cohort), who help organize and animate the evenings, keeping a cherished Piedmontese tradition alive.
