Every October, the historic center of Thiene (province of Vicenza) hosts the Poenta e Bacalà Festival, one of the longest-running and most emblematic festivals in the area. Founded in 1964, it is considered the "signature dish" of the Pro Loco Thiene, which has been organizing it for over half a century.

The absolute star is baccalà alla vicentina: stockfish (dried cod) slow-cooked according to the ancient traditional recipe and served with polenta.
