In the hamlet of Levà, in Montecchio Precalcino (Vicenza), the Confraternita della Quaglia celebrates the night of October 31st with the Quajaday - Speo dei Morti, a gastronomic festival that links the tradition of quail spit to the commemoration of the dead.
Spit and traditional sweets
The menu focuses on quail spit and traditional sweets of the dead, according to recipes dear to Venetian peasant culture. The event takes place at the Palaquaja, the "home" of the Brotherhood, exclusively by reservation and for takeaway, in a format that has won over a loyal audience.
A growing tradition
The Quajaday is one of the two annual events of the Confraternita della Quaglia, along with the Sagra di Levà in September. It continues to be successful as an opportunity to rediscover quail in an autumn key, keeping alive a specialty that is now a symbol of the hamlet and the Alto Vicentino area.

Following the previous editions, the Quajaday - Speo dei Morti is also expected in 2026, usually on the night of October 31st, at the Palaquaja in Levà. The Confraternita della Quaglia will offer quail spit and sweets of the dead, by reservation only and for takeaway.
