Six centuries of devotion at Monte Berico
In 2026, it will be 600 years since the first apparition of the Blessed Virgin on the hill of Monte Berico, witnessed in 1426 by Vincenza Pasini. The Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Monte Berico, which overlooks Vicenza from its hilltop perch, has been the heart of Marian devotion for the Berico region and a destination for pilgrimages from all over Italy for six centuries.
A Jubilee Year for the City
To celebrate the anniversary, the Marian Jubilee and Year of Rebirth has been proclaimed, solemnly opened on Sunday, February 8, 2026, by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State. The theme of the year, inspired by the Magnificat, is 'My soul rejoices in the Lord. Rebirth in hope with Mary'. The initiative stems from an agreement between the Order of the Servants of Mary, the Diocese, the Municipality, and the Province of Vicenza, and the Veneto Region.
Between Faith, Art, and Memory
In addition to liturgical celebrations and pilgrimages, the Jubilee Year offers an immersive experience in the Hall of the Seven Holy Founders of the Sanctuary, reconnecting works, documents, and traditions in a historical-spiritual journey through the centuries. The year concludes on March 7, 2027.

The Monte Berico Sanctuary can be reached from Vicenza city center by ascending Viale X Giugno or through the famous Portici, a long covered staircase leading to the hill. By car, take A4 exit Vicenza Est/Ovest.
