Two evenings of pizza and conviviality in the Merlazza hamlet of Celle Enomondo
Pizza a Merlazza is one of the most anticipated spring events in Celle Enomondo, a small town in the Province of Asti immersed in the hills of Monferrato, Piedmont. The event takes place in the Merlazza hamlet, along Via Roma, and is carefully organized by the Pro Loco of Celle Enomondo, which has been enlivening village life for years with convivial events and local initiatives.
The heart of the festival is simple and genuine: pizza baked on-site and served over two consecutive evenings. The food stand opens for table service, while those who prefer can order pizza for takeaway. It is the perfect opportunity to gather with friends, enjoy good food in the open air, and soak up the authentic atmosphere of a village festival.
The menu ranges from Piedmontese appetizers to a wide variety of pizzas. The selection includes classics like margherita, ham, sausage, diavola, gorgonzola, and the stracchino and arugula version. The real curiosity, however, is the hemp pizza, a specialty that attracts the most adventurous foodies every year. Everything is accompanied by appetizers such as vitello tonnato, raw meat (carne cruda), and capricciosa, as well as homemade desserts like strawberry tiramisu and panna cotta, along with water, wine, beer, and coffee.
The Merlazza hamlet is also home to the Big Bench number 374 of the Big Bench Community Project, inaugurated in 2025 and painted in the town's colors. Located in a panoramic position among wheat fields, on clear days it offers a view of the entire Alpine arc, from the Maritime Alps to Monte Rosa, and is a popular destination for hikers and cyclists traveling the nearby Bric&Bike cycle-pedestrian path. Pizza a Merlazza thus becomes an opportunity to discover this corner of Monferrato and its landscapes, between a slice of pizza and a sunset walk on the Asti hills.
The 2026 edition of Pizza a Merlazza was held on Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31, in the Merlazza hamlet of Celle Enomondo, in the Province of Asti. The Pro Loco offered two evenings dedicated to pizza baked on-site, with table service from 7:00 PM and takeaway options starting from 6:00 PM.
Alongside the pizzas, from the margherita to versions with sausage, gorgonzola, and stracchino and arugula, up to the curious hemp pizza, the stand offered typical Piedmontese appetizers and homemade desserts. On Saturday afternoon, the event dedicated to children with 'Nati per Leggere' readings, organized by the municipal library, completed the program of a simple and well-attended village festival.
