The LGBTQIA+ festival of Val di Cornia at the Pinetina in Riotorto
The Piombino Rainbow Pride Fest is an event that brings queer culture and rights advocacy to the Val di Cornia, in the Municipality of Piombino, in the province of Livorno, Tuscany. It is hosted at the Parco La Pinetina in Riotorto, a coastal district of the Piombino territory, where for four days, meetings, shows, and social gatherings take place in a welcoming, open-air, and completely free environment.
Born from a grassroots initiative and organized by Arcigay Piombino Rainbow, the festival has established itself in just a few editions as one of the most heartfelt queer events on the Tuscan coast. Since its first edition, which drew about a thousand people, the festival has grown by focusing on an increasingly rich program that balances lighthearted fun with meaningful content.
The Pride Fest formula blends different styles: in the late afternoon and early evening, there is space for talks and book presentations, with guests sharing stories, experiences, and community struggles; this is followed by live music during dinner, while the night comes alive with drag shows and DJ sets. The event also features an independent bookstore, craft stalls, and a children's area, making it truly accessible for all ages.
The 2026 edition takes place from July 2 to 5 with four evenings of programming. Announced highlights include the presentation of the book Io, la Romanina with Romina Cecconi, a historic figure of the Italian trans community; the talk Chi ha paura dell'educazione? with Vanessa Roghi; the Regina Miami Night; and the famous Muccassassina Night, bringing the energy of the legendary Roman format to Riotorto. The closing on Sunday, July 5, features the talk Che famiglia!, dedicated to parenting and rights.
More than just an event, the Piombino Rainbow Pride Fest has become a cultural hub for the LGBTQIA+ community of Val di Cornia and anyone wanting to participate in an inclusive experience. The setting of the Pinetina, among the pines and just a stone's throw from the sea, provides a relaxed and familiar atmosphere that distinguishes this event from large city Pride parades, focusing on connection, sharing, and celebration.
The 2026 edition, the third of the event, confirms the winning formula of four free evenings at the Pinetina in Riotorto, in the Municipality of Piombino. The program weaves together entertainment and civil advocacy, from the story of Romina Cecconi to the presence of national guests, culminating in the Muccassassina-branded night.
