Piazza di Circo arrives in Villanova Mondovì

Piazza di Circo is a contemporary circus and performing arts festival in the Monregalese area, conceived and curated by the association L'Albero del Macramè Arte & Cultura, under the artistic direction of Marco Donda and co-directed by Carla Balatti. Recognized by the Ministry of Culture, it is one of the most vibrant new circus festivals in Northwest Italy. After years primarily spent in the streets of Mondovì, the festival becomes truly «widespread» starting in 2026, embracing eight municipalities in the Province of Cuneo, in Piedmont: among these is the Municipality of Villanova Mondovì, nestled at the foot of the Monregalese valleys.

A widespread summer across eight municipalities

The 2026 edition, titled «Risonanze Artistiche», is the largest to date: 34 shows by 24 national and international companies, taking place from June 21st to mid-August. The journey begins on June 21st in Pianfei and, in addition to Mondovì, reaches Paroldo, San Michele Mondovì, Frabosa Soprana, Frabosa Sottana, Villanova Mondovì, and Roccaforte Mondovì. The goal is to bring the language of the circus to the most evocative locations in the region—historic centres, village squares, hamlets, and natural landscapes—where acrobats, jugglers, clowns, and fire artists meet the audience in an intimate and familiar setting.

In Villanova Mondovì, the festival stops as part of the 2026 widespread circuit. The municipality's inclusion among the eight host venues is confirmed by the organization and local press, while the exact date, precise location, and title of the performance in Villanova are published on the official website and the festival's social media channels as summer approaches. This is how Piazza di Circo views its relationship with the villages: not just as mere backdrops, but as protagonists of a season of wonder shared with residents and visitors alike.
