Floral carpets in honor of Corpus Domini in the heart of Partanna
In the heart of Partanna, a small town in the province of Trapani in Western Sicily, a spectacle of rare beauty is renewed every year: the Partanna Flower Festival, created in honor of the Solemnity of Corpus Domini. Along Via Regina Elena, which marks the final stretch of the traditional Eucharistic procession, an immense floral carpet made of petals, colored sawdust, coffee grounds, and fresh flowers is laid out, transforming the historic center into an open-air art gallery.
The festival was born in 2023 from the initiative of a group of young people from the Mother Church, led by Giuseppe Barresi. In just a few years, the event has grown astonishingly: from the first panels, it has expanded to hundreds of square meters of floral surface, establishing itself as the largest flower festival in the province of Trapani and one of the most evocative in all of Western Sicily. Each edition tells a different story through its floral panels, the result of the nocturnal work of hundreds of volunteers who, from Friday evening until Saturday dawn, patiently compose the works petal by petal.
The festival is not just a work of ephemeral art, but a true celebration for the entire community. The program is enriched every year with collateral events: guided tours of the historic center's monuments, itinerant performances by flag-wavers and drummers, a historical pageant in costume, and entertainment by folk groups. The highlight is the Solemn Eucharistic Procession on Sunday, when the Blessed Sacrament passes over the flower carpets in an atmosphere of deep spirituality.
Located in the Belรฌce Valley, Partanna preserves a historical heritage linked to its Grifeo Castle and the ancient religious traditions of the area. The flower festival fits into this context as an authentic expression of Sicilian popular culture, where Christian devotion meets artistic creativity and a sense of community belonging. For the visitor, it is the ideal opportunity to discover a lesser-known but intensely vibrant corner of the Sicilian Region.
The fourth edition of the Partanna Flower Festival took place from Friday, June 5th to Sunday, June 7th, 2026, with floral carpets open to the public daily from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM along Via Regina Elena, in the historic center of the town in the province of Trapani.
The theme of the edition, 'The Contemporary Blooms in Tradition', gave shape to panels inspired by figures of spirituality of our time and local works reinterpreted through ephemeral art. The floral surface, over 100 meters long, confirmed the event as the largest in the province of Trapani.
Admission was free. Numerous collateral events enlivened the weekend, announced on social channels and the official website of the Partanna Flower Festival.
