The festive holiday programme in the city of ceramics
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
"Christmas in Sciacca" is the festival programme through which the Municipality of Sciacca, in the province of Agrigento, guides the city throughout the holiday season, from the Feast of the Immaculate Conception to Epiphany. For over three weeks, the historic centre of Sciacca โ with its squares overlooking the Mediterranean, its staircases, and its alleys that tell centuries of history โ becomes a vast, widespread stage where music, entertainment, and tradition intertwine in a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.
The hallmark of the festival is its itinerant nature: events are not concentrated in a single location but move between the squares most beloved by the locals, from Piazza Angelo Scandaliato to the Chiazza on Via Giuseppe Licata, and from Piazza Don Minzoni to the ancient heart of the city. The programme alternates concerts, parades, shows for families and children, circus and magic performances, nocturnal serenades, and moments of folk storytelling, all with completely free admission.
Alongside the secular festivities, the Sciacca Christmas retains a strong religious and artistic dimension. The Nativity Scene Exhibition held in the Basilica Sanctuary of San Calogero al Monte is one of the most anticipated moments: an exhibition route that celebrates the Nativity and houses a striking nativity scene made of artistic ceramics inside the grotto of San Calogero, signed by local master potters. Ceramics, which have always been a symbol of Sciacca's identity, thus return to the spotlight in the art and painting exhibitions hosted throughout the city.
Promoted by the municipal administration, "Christmas in Sciacca" is designed to engage residents and visitors of all ages, enhancing the city's historical and artistic heritage and helping to de-seasonalise tourism in this jewel of the Agrigento coast, in Sicily. The fact that all events are free makes it one of the most inclusive Christmas offerings in the region.
The 2026 edition of "Christmas in Sciacca" has not yet been officially announced: at the moment, the Municipality has not published either the dates or the programme. Information will be updated as soon as the schedule is released. Following the custom of previous years, a calendar spread across the squares of the historic centre is expected, with concerts, parades, family shows, street food, and the Nativity Scene Exhibition at San Calogero.
Events take place in the historic centre of Sciacca (AG): Piazza Angelo Scandaliato, Chiazza on Via Giuseppe Licata, Piazza Don Minzoni, and the Basilica Sanctuary of San Calogero al Monte for the Nativity Scene Exhibition.
By car: Sciacca can be reached via the SS115 along the southern Sicilian coast. The nearest airports are Palermo "Falcone-Borsellino" (approx. 1h30) and Trapani-Birgi. Bus connections are available from major Sicilian cities.
The period runs approximately from mid-December until January 6th. All events are free of charge.
