The challenge between the hamlets of Val della Torre, featuring games, sports, and tradition
The Palio delle Borgate is an event that, every summer, ignites the community spirit of Val della Torre, a small town in the Province of Turin, Piedmont, nestled in the hills rising toward the Susa Valley. For about a month, the various borgate (hamlets) and districts of the town compete in a series of trials, bringing to life a tradition that combines sport, play, and a sense of belonging.
The heart of the Palio is the friendly competition between the teams of the various hamlets. The challenges range from sports trials to popular games, with a leaderboard that builds up event after event until the winning hamlet is proclaimed. It is a formula that values participation from everyone, from children to adults, making every evening an opportunity for the entire Val della Torre community to gather.
The edition opens with the grand opening party, which kicks off weeks of competitions and festivities in the hamlets. Among the most anticipated events is the Minipalio, the version dedicated to the youngest and families, reserved for residents and former residents of Val della Torre. The calendar intertwines with other moments of town life, such as the Corricammina, a footrace and walk open to everyone that crosses the territory.
The Palio is promoted by A.P.D. Sportinsieme Val della Torre, the amateur sports association that has been animating the sporting and social life of the town for years under the motto "Loyalty, Fitness, and Friendship in Sport." Thanks to the work of volunteers and the support of the Municipality, the event remains free to enter and deeply rooted in the fabric of the town.
The 2026 edition kicks off on Friday, June 5 with the grand opening party and concludes on July 4, 2026, after about a month of challenges between the hamlets of Val della Torre. The detailed program of individual races is defined by A.P.D. Sportinsieme during the weeks of the event.
Among the events already announced: the Minipalio on Sunday, June 21, 2026, dedicated to the youngest and families (registration with a minimum donation of 10 euros, reserved for residents and former residents), and the Corricammina, the footrace and walk that crosses the territory. During the same period, from June 12 to 14, the town celebrates the centenary of the Alpini Group of Val della Torre (1926-2026).
For times and details of the trials in each hamlet, please refer to the updates from the Municipality of Val della Torre and A.P.D. Sportinsieme.
Throughout the month, challenges between the hamlets take place with sports trials and popular games, in addition to the Corricammina. The complete calendar with times and locations of individual races is published by A.P.D. Sportinsieme and the Municipality during the weeks of the event.
Val della Torre is located in the Province of Turin, at the gateway to the Susa Valley. By car, take the A32 Turin-Bardonecchia motorway (Rivoli/Caselette exit) or the Turin ring road, continuing towards Caselette and Val della Torre. The main town is about 25 km from Turin.
The events are held in the various hamlets and districts of the Municipality of Val della Torre, with the main reference point being Piazza Municipio (Piazza Municipio 1).
Admission to the event is free. For the Minipalio, registration with a minimum donation (about 10 euros) is required, reserved for residents and former residents of Val della Torre.
