Trick-or-treating in the historic center, among pumpkins, little witches, and pedestrianized streets
Every year, on October 31st, the historic center of Gassino Torinese (Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont) transforms into a small haunted village to celebrate Halloween. This is not a massive, flashy event, but a genuine community festival: one of those cherished local traditions, designed primarily for children and families from the area and neighboring towns like Settimo Torinese and Castiglione Torinese.
The heart of the event is the traditional "trick-or-treat". In the late afternoon, Corso Italia and the alleys of the historic center are closed to traffic for a few hours, allowing little ones, dressed in their most monstrous and imaginative costumes, to safely go from shop to shop in search of candy and treats. Local merchants join the initiative by decorating their storefronts and welcoming children with all sorts of goodies.
The right mood is set by themed decorations curated by the municipal administration and volunteers: cobwebs, little witches, bats, and pumpkins appear between the Town Hall and Piazza Chiesa, while the village fills with music and entertainment. In past years, schools have also organized walks among the decorations in the days leading up to the festival, involving local students.
The festival is born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Gassino Torinese, the local Pro Loco (a social promotion association affiliated with UNPLI), and the merchants, with the invaluable help of a group of mothers residing in the historic center and the support of safety volunteers (Civil Protection, retired Carabinieri, Municipal Police) for traffic management. The pedestrianization, designed for the safety of children, is now a fixed appointment in the town's autumn calendar.
Free and open to all, the Halloween festival in Gassino is a simple opportunity to get together: walk through the decorated streets, entertain the children, and rediscover the historic center in an unusual and playful guise. A small community event that brings the Turin province to life every October 31st.
Halloween returns to Gassino Torinese on October 31, 2026: the date officially appears among the upcoming events of the local Pro Loco. This year again, the historic center and Corso Italia are expected to host the traditional "trick-or-treat" for children and families, with the usual traffic closure and themed decorations between the Town Hall and Piazza Chiesa.
At the moment, the detailed program (times, any animations, and collateral initiatives) has not yet been published. It will be communicated by the Municipality of Gassino and the Pro Loco on official channels in the days preceding the event.
