About Ostia Chocolate

Every spring, Piazza Anco Marzio, the pedestrian heart of Ostia Lido, transforms into a delicious village dedicated to artisanal chocolate. For three days, master chocolatiers from various Italian regions bring classic bars, pralines, spreads, and flavored specialties to the Roman coast. With open-air stalls, tastings, and demonstrations, Ostia Chocolate is a free event suitable for all ages, perfect for adults and children alike in the lead-up to Easter.

A sea of chocolate on the Roman coast

Every year, at the end of winter, the central Piazza Anco Marzio in Ostia Lido dresses up in sweetness to host Ostia Chocolate, the festival dedicated to artisanal chocolate that brings the historic center of Rome's Municipio X to life. For three days, the pedestrian square becomes a true village of taste, where the absolute star is chocolate in all its forms.

Master chocolatiers from all over Italy

The heart of the event lies in the stalls of master chocolatiers who arrive from various Italian regions to present their creations to the public. Among workshops and open-air counters, visitors can discover and taste a wide variety of products:

  • classic dark, milk, and white chocolate bars;
  • variations flavored with spices, nuts, and citrus;
  • artisanal pralines, chocolates, and spreads;
  • original specialties, also designed for specific dietary needs.

The event traditionally falls in the weeks leading up to Easter, when chocolate becomes the undisputed protagonist of Italian tables: a perfect opportunity to purchase quality artisanal eggs and surprises.

More than just tastings: demonstrations and activities

Ostia Chocolate is not just about sales and tastings. The program includes demonstrations by masters at work, thematic meetings to get to know the world of cocoa up close, and entertainment moments designed for all age groups. Past editions have featured free educational workshops for children, who were able to create small chocolate treats to take home.

In Ostia, between sea and tradition

The setting is Ostia Lido, Rome's seaside district overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, just a short walk from the pier and the beach. Piazza Anco Marzio, the pedestrian lounge of the coast, is easily accessible and offers bars, restaurants, and shops that complete the day. The event, which takes place in the territory of the Municipality of Rome (Lazio region), has free admission and represents one of the most anticipated events for chocolate lovers on the Roman coast.
