The Ostia Christmas Village is the major holiday event brought to the coast for the first time by Rome's Municipio X, located in the green heart of Ostia Lido. Set up in Parco XXV Novembre 1884 on Via Pietro Rosa, the village was created to offer residents and the entire city an accessible, completely free-entry festive space in an area of the Lazio region often far removed from the events of the historic center.
The village covers an area of approximately 8,000 square meters, entirely transformed for the holiday season. Immersive paths, festive lighting, glowing figures, and Christmas decorations guide visitors through various attractions, while covered, heated cabins host indoor activities. A sound system fills the entire area with Christmas music, creating a warm atmosphere even on chilly winter evenings by the Roman sea.
The heart of the experience is the ice skating rink, one of the most popular attractions for both adults and children. Next to it are Santa's House and the Befana's cottageโthe latter being the undisputed star of the holidays in the Lazio region until Epiphany. An enchanted forest, filled with luminous charm, completes the path and guides children and families on a journey through winter magic.
The program places great emphasis on children and families. The heated cabins host creative workshops, theatrical performances, storytelling sessions, and entertainment designed to keep little ones engaged throughout the holiday season. There is also a Christmas market area and a food and beverage section, perfect for a tasty break between activities.
The choice of Parco XXV Novembre 1884 is no coincidence: it is one of Ostia's main green lungs, easily accessible and capable of hosting large-scale installations. Located on Via Pietro Rosa, just a short walk from the center of the Lido, the park becomes the reference point for neighborhood events during the Christmas period, returning a vibrant, lively public space to the community.
Promoted by Roma Capitale together with Municipio X, the Ostia Christmas Village is part of the calendar of Christmas initiatives spread across the territory, with the ambition of becoming a permanent fixture of the Roman coast's winter season. It is a way to bring the magic of Christmas outside the center of Rome, highlighting a seaside neighborhood and its welcoming spirit.
At the time of writing, the return of the Christmas Village to the Parco XXV Novembre 1884 in Ostia for the 2026-2027 winter season has not yet been officially confirmed. The dates provided are indicative and refer to the traditional holiday period, between December 8th and January 6th.
