About ORTOidea

ORTOidea is a new festival dedicated to the culture of vegetable gardening, sustainability, and outdoor living, hosted at the Parco Tre Castagni in Pergine Valsugana, Trentino. Featuring demonstration garden plots, a themed market, workshops for adults and children, cooking classes, and farm-to-table culinary delights, the event celebrates nature as a space for creativity, well-being, and connection. It is an event designed for families, gardening enthusiasts, and curious visitors, set at the foot of the Castello di Pergine.

ORTOidea, nature becomes an experience in Pergine Valsugana

ORTOidea is the event that transforms the Parco Tre Castagni in Pergine Valsugana, in the heart of the Trentino Valsugana, into a vast, sprawling garden dedicated to the culture of vegetable gardening, sustainability, and community. Launched in 2026 as its first edition, the festival promotes green cultivation as a space for creativity, well-being, and sharing, offering a program rich in activities, meetings, and themed installations within a park of over ten hectares at the foot of the evocative Castello di Pergine.

Demonstration gardens and themed market

The heart of ORTOidea lies in the demonstration garden plots set up by citizens, associations, schools, cooperatives, and local entities: small spaces that showcase cultivation techniques, design ideas, and creative solutions for those wanting to explore the world of horticulture. Surrounding the gardens is a themed market featuring vegetable and garden plants, aromatic herbs, seasonal flowers, seeds, processed agricultural products, and a selection of artisanal items inspired by gardening and nature.

Workshops, cooking classes, and activities for adults

The program offers experiential workshops, meetings and conferences with experts, cooking demonstrations, and activities designed for all ages. There are also art therapy sessions and botanical printing workshops, immersive walks among wild herbs, and cooking classes inspired by garden produce, to learn how to bring seasonality and local flavors to the table. The culinary offerings focus on farm-to-table products, with specialties tied to local traditions.

ORTO KIDS: nature becomes play

A special space is reserved for the little ones with ORTO KIDS, the area dedicated to children featuring an educational farm, creative workshops, storytelling, games, and outdoor activities. Between treasure hunts, drawing workshops, farm animals, English games, and beeswax candle making, children experience nature as a journey of discovery and fun, while families share creative moments immersed in the greenery.

A community project

ORTOidea is promoted by the Pro Loco Pergine Valsugana in collaboration with the Municipality of Pergine Valsugana, the APT Valsugana Lagorai, the Consorzio operatori Pergine Iniziative, the Environmental Works and Enhancement Service, and the Cooperativa Sant'Orsola. The event is part of a broader reflection on sustainability, the relationship with the land, and community life, bringing to the Autonomous Province of Trento, in Trentino-Alto Adige, an appointment that unites nature, food culture, craftsmanship, and social connection.

ORTOidea — edition 2026

The first edition of ORTOidea took place at the Parco Tre Castagni in Pergine Valsugana over two weekends, April 24-26 and May 1-3, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. A debut dedicated to the culture of vegetable gardening, sustainability, and community, featuring demonstration gardens, a themed market, workshops, cooking classes, and the ORTO KIDS children's area.
