The nativity scene exhibition in the village of Miola on the Pinè Plateau
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of the Pinè Plateau, in Trentino-Alto Adige, the small hamlet of Miola in the municipality of Baselga di Pinè (Province of Trento) transforms every winter into a true open-air museum. The El Paés dei Presepi Christmas exhibition, which boasts over twenty years of history, fills the village streets with more than a hundred handcrafted nativity scenes displayed in windows, under porches, and in the courtyards of ancient houses. From traditional scenes to illuminated ones, from the Nativity grotto to the animated mechanical nativity scene by the Anesin family, every corner tells the story of the skill and passion of local artisans.
The exhibition is designed as a leisurely stroll through the districts of Miola, where visitors can admire the works and take part in the "Catch the Reindeer" game, a hidden object hunt using QR codes to scan for a chance to win fun souvenir gadgets. At El Casel, you will also find the House of 1000 Nativity Scenes, an exhibition center that gathers dozens of works from local collections and artisans.
One of the most beloved symbols of the event is the Christmas Train, a free 30-minute panoramic tour that connects Miola to the center of Baselga di Pinè. With its six stops—Piazza San Rocco, Ice Rink Pinè parking lot, Lake Serraia promenade, Piazzale Costalta, Corso Roma, and Via Don Giuseppe Vergot—the train allows you to comfortably discover the village, Lake Serraia, and the exhibition sites, much to the delight of the little ones.
In Piazza San Rocco, the food stand offers the genuine flavors of zero-mile Trentino cuisine. The calendar is marked by festivals dedicated to typical dishes: the Polenta Festival, the Canederlo Festival, the Potato Tortel, and the Luganega and Scodeghin festival. A perfect opportunity to warm up with mulled wine and enjoy the specialties of the Pinè Plateau.
The exhibition is not just a static display: the calendar offers appointments that bring the village to life with unique experiences.
Organized by C.O.Pinè - Consortium of Economic Operators of the Pinè Plateau, the El Paes dei Presepi exhibition has become an unmissable event in the Trentino Christmas calendar. It represents a model of slow and authentic tourism, where the tradition of nativity scenes blends with community hospitality and the enhancement of the heritage of the village of Miola, a jewel of the Pinè Plateau.
The El Paes dei Presepi exhibition in Miola, a hamlet of Baselga di Pinè, will return for Christmas 2026. At the moment, the official dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: the event traditionally takes place from the beginning of December until Epiphany. As every year, over a hundred handcrafted nativity scenes displayed in the village, the free Christmas train, zero-mile food festivals, and special events for families are expected. The full program will be published on the official website in the weeks leading up to the event.
By car: A22 Brenner Motorway, exit at Trento Nord or Trento Sud, then SS12 and SS47 towards Pergine Valsugana, then SP83 towards the Pinè Plateau. By train: Trento station, then local bus towards the Plateau. Nearest airport: Verona "Valerio Catullo".
Open 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM on event days. Admission is free. The Christmas Train is free. Creative workshops require reservation (approx. 7 euros).
