Organ concert on a historic instrument in the parish church of Aisone, in the Stura Valley
In Aisone, a small town in the Stura Valley in the province of Cuneo, the Nativity of the Most Holy Mary Parish houses a little-known treasure: the organ built by Giacomo Filippo Landesio in 1748, one of the most fascinating historic instruments in Piedmontese organ building. The Aisone leg of the Organi Vespera festival, promoted by the Amici della Musica di Savigliano Association, revolves around this instrument.
Organi Vespera is a summer festival of organ concerts that brings great music to the historic organs of the valleys and towns of the Cuneo area, from Vittino to Vegezzi-Bossi. The initiative was created to enhance the rich organ heritage of Piedmont, combining musical quality, the rediscovery of sacred spaces with great architectural charm, and the meeting of ancient and modern repertoires. Each evening takes place in a different church, transforming small mountain centers like Aisone, Acceglio, Entracque, Pietraporzio, and Limone Piemonte into places of intimate and evocative listening.
The Aisone concert traditionally offers a repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to the Baroque, with programs that highlight the timbres of the Landesio organ. In recent editions, the evening has featured a dialogue between the organ and wind instruments, with period transcriptions and original compositions designed to enhance the color of each instrument. The result is an intimate and refined listening experience, in harmony with the acoustics of the parish church.
More than just a concert, the Aisone event is an opportunity to rediscover the bond between music, faith, and the alpine landscape. The Piedmont Region, and the Cuneo valleys in particular, preserve numerous historic organs: listening to them live, in their original context, means connecting with centuries of history and musical tradition. Admission is free, with voluntary donations to support the activities of the Amici della Musica di Savigliano.
The Organi Vespera 2026 festival by the Amici della Musica di Savigliano stops in Aisone on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 9:00 PM, at the Nativity of the Most Holy Mary Parish. The star of the evening is the historic 1748 Landesio organ. The date in Aisone opens the 2026 festival dedicated to the historic organs of the Cuneo valleys, from Vittino to Vegezzi-Bossi, with subsequent events in La Morra, Entracque, Pietraporzio, and Limone Piemonte. The detailed program and the name of the performer will be announced by the organization closer to the concert date. Admission is free with voluntary donation.
