The cultural festival in Gangi that weaves together current affairs, memory, and the great voices of our time
Omnia - Festival of Time is the cultural event that every June illuminates the historic center of Gangi, one of Italy's most beautiful villages nestled in the Madonie mountains, in the province of Palermo. Promoted by the Municipality of Gangi and directed by Santi Cicardo, the festival turns the town's squares, historic palaces, and social clubs into a widespread stage where intellectual reflection meets live performance.
The hallmark of Omnia is the selection of a major theme that serves as a common thread throughout the event: following "Devotion" in 2025, the 2026 edition focused on the concept of justice with the title "In/Justice for All." Around this core, the festival organizes talks with judges and journalists, book presentations, photography exhibitions, theatrical performances, and concerts, striking a rare balance between civic engagement and cultural lightness.
Events take place in the village's most evocative settings: Piazza del Popolo, the heart of Gangi's social life, hosts the major evening talks and concerts; Piazza San Giuseppe dei Poveri, Piazzetta Bongiorno, the Multifunctional Hall, and historic clubs host conferences, presentations, and exhibitions. Strolling between appointments means traversing the town's medieval streets, amidst panoramic mountain views and stone architecture.
In just a few years, Omnia has become a cultural benchmark for the entire Madonie area and inland Sicily, capable of drawing both the public and nationally renowned guests to the village. It is the perfect opportunity to discover Gangi, combining the pleasure of the Madonie landscape with the quality of a program designed for those who love to understand their own time.
The festival is traditionally held in mid-June and spans three days. Admission to events in the squares is free, in line with the festival's popular and participatory spirit.
The third edition of Omnia - Festival of Time took place in Gangi from June 12 to 14, 2026, with a deliberately ambiguous title, "In/Justice for All," to question the crisis of the principle of equality and the metamorphosis of power. The festival, directed by Santi Cicardo and promoted by the Municipality of Gangi led by Mayor Giuseppe Ferrarello, linked the reflection to the centenary of the 1926 siege of Gangi by Prefect Cesare Mori.
Three days of talks, conferences, book presentations, photography exhibitions, and concerts enlivened the historic center's squares, with guests of the caliber of Palermo prosecutor Maurizio De Lucia, journalists Attilio Bolzoni, Gad Lerner, and Lucia Goracci, and the final concert by Frida Bollani Magoni in Piazza del Popolo.
Gangi is located in the heart of the Madonie, in the province of Palermo. By car, it can be reached from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (Tremonzelli or Irosa exit) by continuing along the inland roads; from Palermo, the journey takes about an hour and a half. The nearest airport is Palermo Falcone-Borsellino.
The village offers B&Bs, holiday homes, and farm stays in the surrounding area; given the influx during the festival, booking in advance is recommended.
Meetings and performances in the historic center's squares are free to attend.
Bring comfortable shoes for the cobblestone streets of the historic center and a light jacket for the evenings in the square, even in June.
