Madonie jazz arrives in San Mauro Castelverde

In the summer of 2026, the Castelbuono Jazz Festival, a historic event born in the Madonie mountains and now in its 29th edition, takes a bold new step: for the first time, its concerts move beyond the borders of Castelbuono to reach the nearby village of San Mauro Castelverde, located in the mountainous heart of the province of Palermo, in Sicily. Under the artistic direction of Angelo Butera and with the involvement of the Municipality of San Mauro Castelverde, a dedicated local programme has been created to complement the main festival schedule in Castelbuono.

Seven free evenings between July and August

The San Mauro programme consists of seven free-admission events, all starting at 9:30 PM, spread across July and August and hosted in two iconic village locations: the Municipal Theatre and the spectacular Piano di San Mauro, a natural terrace overlooking the Madonie.

• July 11th – Gaetano Riccobono and the Romantica Jazz Choir
• July 19th – "L'Amore Sterminato" (Endless Love), a show dedicated to Felicia Impastato, at the Municipal Theatre
• August 14th – Daria Biancardi in "Sola", at the Piano di San Mauro
• August 16th – "Brasil Fala Italiano" with Pamela Barone
• August 20th – "New York Tango" with Giuseppe Milici and Roberto Gervasi
• August 21st – Baciami Piccina Swing Band

A festival that celebrates the village

The arrival of the festival in San Mauro Castelverde has been warmly welcomed by the local administration, which views the event as a key opportunity for cultural and tourism growth in the area. The San Mauro programme is an integral part of the 29th edition of the Castelbuono Jazz Festival, whose main hub takes place in Castelbuono from August 16th to 23rd, 2026. This year's lineup celebrates the centenaries of John Coltrane and Miles Davis, featuring artists such as Stefano Di Battista, Fabrizio Bosso, Salvatore Bonafede, and Francesco Bearzatti. In San Mauro Castelverde, the festival offers a more intimate and widespread experience, tailored for both local audiences and summer visitors to the Madonie.
