Music, art, and people: the white night through the alleys of the Madonie village
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
When darkness falls over the Madonie, the historic center of Petralia Soprana transforms into a vast open-air stage. Cor Petrae—whose name, from Latin, means "heart of stone" in homage to the village's own toponym—is the white night that fills the town's squares and alleys every summer until the first light of dawn. Live music, DJ sets, street performers, dancing, entertainment for the little ones, and plenty of great food: this is the formula that has drawn locals and visitors for years to one of Italy's most beautiful towns, already recognized as a 'Borgo dei Borghi'.
Petralia Soprana, in the province of Palermo, is one of the highest towns in the Madonie and preserves a maze of stone streets, churches, and palaces that serve as a natural backdrop for the event. During Cor Petrae, the various squares of the village simultaneously host stages and musical stations: you can move from one scene to another following the notes, from bands and covers to indie music, traditional ballroom dancing for enthusiasts, and DJ sets that keep the square dancing until dawn.
The festival's subtitle—"Music, art, and people"—encapsulates the spirit of the event: not just concerts, but also photography exhibitions, spaces dedicated to folklore and local excellence, family entertainment, and typical Madonie gastronomy. The event, promoted by the municipal administration of Petralia Soprana and organized by the Pro Loco, has grown edition after edition (from its restart in 2022 to the 3.0 and 4.0 versions), becoming a staple of the Madonie summer.
Cor Petrae is traditionally held around Ferragosto (mid-August), in the height of summer. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: due to its recurring nature, the event is communicated by the Municipality and the Pro Loco a few weeks in advance, usually at the beginning of August.
As of today, the municipal administration of Petralia Soprana and the Pro Loco have not yet published the dates and program for the Cor Petrae 2026 white night. As this is a recurring event of the Madonie summer, it is reasonable to expect a new edition during the Ferragosto period, as in previous years. The detailed program—including bands, DJ sets, and locations in the village squares—will be announced by the organizers closer to the event.
Historic center of Petralia Soprana (PA), in the Madonie mountains. The various musical stations are located in the main squares of the village (Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Frate Umile, Piazza Duomo, Piazza Unità d'Italia).
Petralia Soprana can be reached by car from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (Tre Monzelli or Irosa exit) and then via the SS120. It is recommended to park on the outskirts of the town, as the heart of the village is pedestrianized during the white night.
Admission to the event is free.
