Three days of flavor, floral art, and entertainment in the heart of the Sicani Mountains
In Giuliana, a small village perched on the Sicani Mountains in the province of Palermo, the olive tree is more than just a crop: it is an identity. The Giarraffa olive โ a large drupe with a color ranging from green to wine-red and finally purplish-black โ is a recognized De.Co. product that grows exclusively in this territory. The Oliva Giarraffa Fest was created to share its story and flavors, transforming the entire historic center into a vibrant journey through local culture and gastronomy.
For 2026, the event scheduled from June 26th to 28th joins forces with the 4th Giuliana Flower Festival: two events intertwined to create three days of tastings, shows, live music, and theatrical tours. The village streets and squares โ from Piazza Pompei to Via Roma and Piazza SS. Crocifisso โ will be adorned with floral carpets created by master floral artists, while food stalls offer the best of local flavors.
The gastronomic heart of the festival lies in the free tastings of typical Giuliana products. Alongside the Giarraffa olive, you will find specialties such as tabisca (the traditional village flatbread), local organic lentils, porchetta, and other delicacies of Sicani cuisine. It is a showcase of the short supply chain and artisanal food production from this corner of the Palermo hinterland.
The backdrop for the event is the Frederick II Castle, the symbol of Giuliana, which opens its halls for theatrical tours and performances. With street art, stilt walkers, music, and evening DJ sets, the festival combines the promotion of a De.Co. agricultural product with the vibrancy of a grand village celebration.
The 2026 edition is part of the regional project "Sicilia che piace", co-financed by the Department of Productive Activities of the Sicilian Region, and is promoted by the Municipality of Giuliana with the support of local entities. It is a unique opportunity to discover a Sicani Mountains village far from the beaten tourist paths, surrounded by heritage, traditions, and fine dining.
The 2026 edition of the Oliva Giarraffa Fest runs from June 26th to 28th and is intertwined with the 4th Giuliana Flower Festival. It opens Friday evening in Piazza Pompei with the presentation of the flower festival projects, continues Saturday night with the creation of floral carpets between Via Roma and Piazza SS. Crocifisso, and culminates on Sunday with the inauguration of the flower festival, food tasting stalls, and a full day of entertainment. The free event is part of the regional project "Sicilia che piace" promoted by the Municipality of Giuliana.
