The autumn fair of Poviglio

The October Fair is one of the most cherished events in Poviglio, a municipality in the Bassa Reggiana area of the province of Reggio Emilia, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. For many years, it has marked the arrival of autumn with a day of widespread celebration that transforms the historic center into a large open-air market, rich in initiatives that connect the land, food, and culture of the territory.

A large public market

The heart of the fair is the extraordinary market that occupies the streets and squares of the town: a large public area fair officially registered on the Emilia-Romagna regional portal, with over one hundred stalls of all types of goods spread over an area of approximately 7,000 square meters. Food stalls, clothing, crafts, household products, and local agricultural producers alternate along the streets, in a stroll that lasts all day.

Vintage tractors and the agricultural world

A distinctive feature of the event is the display of vintage tractors organized by GAMAE, alongside modern agricultural machinery provided by local farmers. It is a tribute to the rural vocation of the Bassa Reggiana, a land of countryside and field work, highly appreciated by visitors of all ages.

Exhibitions, entertainment, and shows

Alongside the market, the day offers art and photography exhibitions hosted in the squares and spaces of the center, entertainment for the little ones with soap bubbles, face painting, and workshops, dance performances, and live concerts that conclude the celebration. The traditional funfair for families is also present.

The gastronomy of the territory

The fair is also an opportunity to taste the flavors of the Emilian tradition thanks to the stands of local associations, with specialties such as gnocco fritto and cured meats from the Bassa. A delicious event that accompanies the day and completes the convivial atmosphere of the Poviglio celebration.
