The Notturni nelle Rocche are one of the most beloved summer events in the Roero region: a series of night walks that cross the hill towns every year, winding through gullies, vineyards, and the steep slopes that give the famous rocche (badlands) their name. The Monticello d'Alba stage, in the province of Cuneo, takes place in the picturesque Sant'Antonio district, with a meeting point in the square next to Bar Colli. It is organized by the Pro Loco of Monticello d'Alba as part of the program curated by the Ecomuseo delle Rocche del Roero.
A walk under the stars
The route winds through the darkness along the paths around the village, for a walk of about five kilometers lasting a total of two hours. Along the way, participants encounter theatrical performances and thematic insights—historical, botanical, wildlife, and literary—that transform the walk into an immersive experience, amidst the silence of the night and the sounds of the Roero nature.
The theme of the 2026 edition: #GialliEMisteri
The 17th edition of the festival, which involves about twenty Roero municipalities from June to early September, is dedicated to the theme #GialliEMisteri: noir stories, mysteries, and riddles to solve. The evening in Monticello is presented as a Literary Nocturne, with an in-depth look at the relationship between literature and dark cinema, weaving suspense, anecdotes, and narrative suggestions during the stop along the path.
An experience for the whole family
The walks are designed for adults, families, and nature enthusiasts; participation is recommended for ages 8 and up. At the end of the walk, a sweet finale awaits all participants, with hot herbal teas, local fruit, and artisanal biscuits: a convivial moment to end the evening. The initiative enhances the bond between the Roero and its communities, combining hiking, culture, and local traditions with the support of the Fondazione CRC and partners Visit Langhe Monferrato Roero and Rete Ecomusei Piemonte.

La tappa monticellese 2026, in frazione Sant'Antonio, è stata la terza data della 17ª edizione dei Notturni nelle Rocche, dedicata al tema #GialliEMisteri. Il ritrovo era fissato alle ore 20.45, con partenza tassativa alle ore 21.00 dal piazzale adiacente al Bar Colli.
La serata, proposta come Notturno letterario, ha alternato la camminata naturalistica a un approfondimento dedicato al rapporto tra letteratura e cinema dell'oscurità. Ospite della tappa Alessandro Avataneo, regista e fondatore di Hypercritic, docente alla Scuola Holden di Torino, con l'intervento "Anatomia dell'oscurità: dalla letteratura al cinema". Come da tradizione, la passeggiata si è chiusa con un dolce finale a base di tisane calde, frutta del territorio e biscotti artigianali.

How to get there
Monticello d'Alba can be reached by car along the provincial road connecting Bra to Alba. The meeting point for the Notturni nelle Rocche stage is in the Sant'Antonio district, in the square next to Bar Colli. By train, the reference station is Bra, on the Cavallermaggiore-Alba line.
