A night of traditional crafts and folk music in Bolbeno
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of the Giudicarie Valleys, the small village of Bolbeno, a hamlet of the municipality of Borgo Lares (Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige), has hosted one of the region's most beloved summer events for over a quarter of a century: Not(t)e di Note. Organized by the Pro Loco of Bolbeno, the festival is traditionally held on a Saturday in mid-August, transforming the narrow streets and courtyards of the village into a sprawling stage where the sounds, flavors, and memories of the past mingle.
The afternoon begins with a captivating re-enactment of forgotten trades: along the village lanes, characters come to life to tell the story of rural life in times gone by. You will encounter the blacksmith, the rake-maker, the knife-grinder, the cobbler, the chair-caner, the cheesemaker, the water carrier, the washerwomen, and the lace-makers. It is an open-air journey that bridges generations and restores the slow rhythm of the Giudicarie farming community.
From late afternoon, the busy musical itinerary begins: squares, courtyards, and corners of the village fill with melodies thanks to bands, choirs, and folk ensembles. Over the years, the event has hosted numerous artists and groups, from local choirs like the Coro Cima Tosa of Bolbeno to singer-songwriter and folk acts, as well as guests from other European traditions. The evening continues with a grand final concert that keeps the festival going until late at night.
The gastronomic heart of the evening is the dinner featuring polenta and typical Trentino products, enriched by the specialty that makes the village famous: Capüs de Bolben—tasty dumplings made from stale bread, Grana cheese, butter, eggs, herbs, and raisins, wrapped in vine leaves and cooked according to an ancient recipe passed down by the women of the village. There is also artisanal ice cream and activities dedicated to children, with storytelling and entertainment.
Not(t)e di Note is much more than a simple festival: it is the identity celebration of Bolbeno, made possible by the hard work of the Pro Loco volunteers. It is part of a series of summer events that enliven the entire municipality of Borgo Lares, created from the union of the villages of Bolbeno and Zuclo. An authentic, free, open-air evening, perfect for discovering Trentino folk traditions amidst mountains, music, and great food.
The 2026 edition of Not(t)e di Note in Bolbeno, a hamlet of Borgo Lares, does not yet have an official date at the time of publication. Following tradition, the festival organized by the Pro Loco of Bolbeno should take place on the Saturday of mid-August, featuring the usual re-enactment of ancient trades, musical itineraries through squares and courtyards, and a dinner with polenta and the famous Capüs de Bolben. The detailed program and musical line-up will be communicated by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
Bolbeno is located in the municipality of Borgo Lares, in the Giudicarie Valleys (Trentino). By car, it can be reached via the SS237 del Caffaro road; the nearest motorway exit is Trento Sud (A22), then continue towards the Giudicarie.
