The Ledro and Giudicarie Valleys leg of the Italian responsible tourism festival
IT.A.CÀ – Migrants and Travelers is recognized as the first and only festival in Italy entirely dedicated to responsible tourism: a traveling national project launched in 2009 that visits dozens of locations across various regions every year, engaging local communities, associations, and operators. In the Trentino-Alto Adige region, the festival stops in the Ledro and Giudicarie Esteriori Valleys, within the Alpi Ledrensi and Judicaria UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, with the Municipality of Ledro (Province of Trento) serving as the heart of the events.
The 2026 edition, the eighteenth at a national level, has chosen "Geographies of Peace" as its guiding theme: an invitation to rethink boundaries, traverse cultures and landscapes with slowness, and imagine ways of traveling that foster connection rather than separation. The Trentino leg opens on July 3rd in Pieve di Ledro with a moment dedicated to Alexander Langer, a Trentino pacifist and environmentalist, on the thirty-first anniversary of his passing, followed by a talk on the work of Goffredo Fofi.
Spread across two phases—from July 3rd to August 1st and from September 25th to October 3rd—the program explores the landscape in all its dimensions: natural, residential, sonic, and inner. Highlights include:
The festival takes place within the Alpi Ledrensi and Judicaria Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO under the MAB (Man and the Biosphere) program, which includes Lake Ledro, the surrounding valleys, and a natural and cultural heritage of great value. Events are distributed among the local municipalities, from Ledro to the Giudicarie, reaching as far as Tenno and Storo, highlighting villages, trails, and historical sites.
IT.A.CÀ is not just a series of events; it is an opportunity to experience the territory in an ethical and participatory way. In the Ledro and Giudicarie Valleys, visitors will find a largely free and accessible program that combines music, nature, walking, and culture, in the spirit of slow tourism that puts local communities, the environment, and dialogue between peoples at the center. The leg is coordinated by the Ledro Inselberg APS association, with the scientific patronage of the University of Trento.
The 2026 edition, the eighteenth at a national level, offers the Trentino leg in two phases: from July 3rd to August 1st (walks, meetings, concerts, and cultural initiatives) and from September 25th to October 3rd (seminars and in-depth sessions). The theme is "Geographies of Peace".
