Summer black truffles take center stage in the village and castle park of Murisengo
The National Summer Black Truffle Fair «Trifola nOiR» is the event in Murisengo, in the Province of Alessandria, that puts the summer black truffle — the Tuber aestivum, also known as Scorzone — at the heart of the celebration in one of the most characteristic villages of the Lower Asti Monferrato. The festival takes place over two weekends in June, transforming the ancient village and the centuries-old park of the Aleramici castle into a journey of flavors, aromas, and experiences.
The fair has two distinct souls. Saturday is dedicated to the «Notte del Tartufo nOiR» (Black Truffle Night): from late afternoon, the village comes alive with tasting stalls, street food, and live music under the stars in the castle park. Sunday is the day for the truffle market, featuring local truffle hunters, food and wine producers, and local crafts, accompanied by the traditional competition dedicated to the best truffles.
The common thread is Monferrato food and wine: street food featuring traditional and vegetarian carpione, hand-chopped beef tartare with black truffle, cured meats, goat cheeses, agnolotti and ravioli, hazelnut cake, and goat's milk gelato. The setting is completed by local wines — including the native Baratuciat and Slarina grape varieties — craft beers, and mixology offerings. Guided tastings and masterclasses explore the pairing of truffles with these lesser-known but deeply authentic wines.
Beyond the table, «Trifola nOiR» offers walks through the vineyards, mountain bike and e-bike tours, visits to the educational truffle ground, and truffle hunting demonstrations with dogs. There is also an art exhibition in the former church of San Michele and shows designed for children in the castle park. A free shuttle connects the town squares to easily enjoy all the event locations.
Set within the UNESCO-listed hilly landscape of Monferrato, the fair is the ideal opportunity to discover Murisengo and its surroundings, combining excellent gastronomy with the beauty of Piedmontese panoramas. A young event that is already deeply rooted, engaging with the territory's historic truffle-hunting vocation.
The 2026 edition of the National Summer Black Truffle Fair «Trifola nOiR» was spread over two weekends, with Saturday evenings dedicated to the «Notte del Tartufo nOiR» and Sundays reserved for the market fair. The formula combining gastronomy, wine, music, and nature in the heart of Murisengo Monferrato was confirmed, with free live concerts in the castle park, masterclasses on native grape varieties, and a rich calendar of experiences for all ages.
Murisengo is located in the Lower Asti Monferrato, in the Province of Alessandria, about 35 km east of Turin. By car, it can be reached via the SS590 of Valcerrina. During the event, several streets in the center are closed to traffic; it is recommended to use the parking lots in Piazza Boario, Piazza Vittoria, and Piazza Lavazza.
During the fair days, a free shuttle service operates between Piazza Boario, Piazza Vittoria, and Piazza Lavazza, useful for moving between the village and the castle park.
Saturday (Notte del Tartufo nOiR): from the afternoon until late evening. Sunday (truffle market): morning and afternoon.
