The artisanal chocolate village arrives in the heart of Cecina
Cecina, a lively town on the Etruscan Coast in the province of Livorno, welcomes the National Chocolate Festivals for the first timeโthe gourmet caravan that has been enlivening Italian squares from September to May for years. The event takes place along Corso Giacomo Matteotti, the town's main shopping and strolling artery, which dresses itself in the scents and colors of cocoa for the entire weekend.
The absolute stars are the Master Chocolatiers from various Italian regions, gathered under the banner of the Choco Amore association, the National Association of Chocolatiers that promotes the culture of artisanal chocolate as an art passed down from father to son. Along the stalls on the main street, you will find specialties to enjoy on the spot or take home:
This is genuine chocolate, crafted without additives or preservatives, designed to melt slowly in the mouth and release intense aromas: the true hallmark of a quintessential Italian confectionery tradition.
Beyond tastings, the event offers experiences designed to engage audiences of all ages. Throughout the weekend, the Chocolate Factory is set up, a workshop dedicated to lessons on chocolate making for both children and adults, while the Sacher torte cooking show allows visitors to discover the secrets behind one of the world's most famous desserts.
Free and open to the public, the festival is perfect for a stroll through the town center between tastings, making it ideal for families, food lovers, and the curious. The setting is that of Cecina and the Tuscan coast, just a few kilometers from the sea and the hills of the Livorno Maremma, during a periodโMarchโthat ideally inaugurates the beautiful season on the Etruscan Coast.
The first edition of the National Chocolate Festivals in Cecina enlivens Corso Giacomo Matteotti from Friday, March 20th to Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, with continuous hours from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Along the street, stalls from the Master Chocolatiers of the Choco Amore association, hailing from various Italian regions, will be set up.
Throughout the weekend, the Chocolate Factory will be open, offering workshops on cocoa processing for children and adults. The program also includes a Sacher torte cooking show, on Saturday and Sunday at 3:30 PM.
Cecina is easily accessible by car via the SS1 Aurelia or the Florence-Pisa-Livorno expressway, continuing onto the Variante Aurelia. By train, the Cecina station is on the Genoa-Rome Tyrrhenian line, just a few minutes' walk from Corso Matteotti. The nearest airport is Pisa's Galileo Galilei.
The event runs from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Admission is free; you only pay for what you taste or purchase at the stalls.
The street comes alive especially in the afternoon: to attend the Sacher torte cooking show (scheduled at 3:30 PM), it is best to arrive a little early. Cecina offers numerous accommodation options along the coast for those wishing to extend their stay.
