Costumed storytelling tours and wine tastings at Roddi Castle, in the heart of the Langhe region
Narrar Castelli e Vini โ Spring Edition is the spring version of the successful format created by the Barolo & Castles Foundation in collaboration with Turismo in Langa. Following the autumn editions, the project debuts in 2026 with a brand-new proposal set among the villages and manors of the Langhe and Roero areas, in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. In Roddi, the appointment is for Sunday, May 31, 2026, when Roddi Castle becomes the stage for a narrated and animated tour.
This Spring Edition is entirely dedicated to women: the protagonists are figures who left a mark on the places they inhabited and transformed. At Roddi Castle, the story is entrusted to the figure of Giovanna Carafa, wife of Gianfrancesco II Pico della Mirandola, who took possession of the newly acquired castle in 1525. Her story soon intertwines with family tragedies, imprisonment, and resistance: a historical character brought back to life for the public by costumed actors who accompany visitors through the halls of the manor.
Guided and theatrical tours depart in groups every half hour, in two time slots:
Each tour concludes with a tasting of local wines, in this stop featuring the Azienda Agricola Olivero: a way to combine historical narrative with the oenological excellence that has made the Langhe hills, a UNESCO World Heritage site, famous.
The Spring Edition does not end in Roddi: on May 31, the initiative also involves the Ricetto of Barolo Castle, while the previous Sunday, May 24, featured Barolo Castle and the castles of Magliano Alfieri and Serralunga d'Alba. For those who wish to enrich their visit, walking excursions in the villages are also available with Terre Alte and Love Langhe.
Nestled on a hill between Alba and Barolo, the village of Roddi overlooks a landscape of vineyards that is a symbol of Piedmontese food and wine. Its castle, recently restored and reopened to the public, is now a reference point for discovering the area. Participating in Narrar Castelli e Vini means experiencing the Langhe in an authentic way, weaving together historical memory, popular traditions, and wine culture into a single experience.
