Musica in Montagna is the event that brings the small hamlet of Castellar di Boves to life at the start of summer. Located in the municipality of Boves, in the province of Cuneo, it sits in the heart of the Piedmontese Alps. Established in 2025 by the Pro Loco of Castellar, the festival is dedicated to Alpine choral singing and the brass bands of the 'penne nere' (Alpine troops), a tradition deeply rooted in the Cuneo valleys.

A celebration of Alpine song and conviviality

The heart of the event is the Saturday evening, when the village fills with the voices of choirs and the notes of brass bands. The concerts, which are free to attend, are preceded by the famous Capelanöva polenta feast, a convivial moment where guests can enjoy traditional mountain dishes. The musical program is complemented by moments of remembrance, including ceremonies dedicated to the fallen and religious services animated by the choirs.

The performers

The stage features a mix of local ensembles and historic groups associated with the Alpine community. Early editions have hosted the Fanfara della Brigata Alpina Taurinense, the "La Marmotta" Choir of Bernezzo, the ANA Choir of the Cervere Alpine Group, and the OFTAL Choir, showcasing the strong bond between the festival and Piedmontese Alpine associations.
