Summer concert series in the Cloister of the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Pisa
Music under the Tower is one of the most anticipated musical events of the Pisan summer. The series takes place in the intimate and evocative Cloister of the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, located within the famous Piazza dei Miracoli, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the monumental heart of the city of Pisa, in Tuscany. Just meters away from the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral, and the Baptistery, the audience enjoys concerts in an intimate atmosphere, framed by the ancient arches of the cloister illuminated for the occasion.
The event is organized by the Opera della Primaziale Pisana, the institution that has overseen the conservation and enhancement of the Piazza dei Miracoli monuments since the Middle Ages. Each edition offers four evenings featuring nationally and internationally renowned artists, building a diverse program that ranges from jazz to Italian singer-songwriter music, and from world music to French chanson and cabaret. The common thread is quality: voices and instrumentalists capable of highlighting the acoustics and magic of such a historic space.
A distinctive feature of Music under the Tower is its charitable dimension. The series is produced in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Pisa-Caritas Diocesana, and all ticket proceeds are donated to support local charitable projects dedicated to fighting poverty and assisting the most vulnerable. Attending the concerts therefore means combining the pleasure of listening with a concrete gesture of solidarity toward the Pisan community.
Listening to live music in the cloister of the Museo dell'Opera, with the Leaning Tower and the Cathedral as a backdrop, is an experience that blends art, music, and heritage. The series has firmly established itself as a staple of the Pisan summer calendar, attracting both local audiences and the many visitors who flock to Pisa and Tuscany during this time. Seating is limited by the capacity of the cloister, making each evening particularly exclusive and sought-after.
