The summer musical evening by the Mölten band in the village of Verschneid
Music Night is the summer highlight for the Musikkapelle Mölten, the brass band of the municipality of Mölten, located in the province of Bolzano in the heart of Trentino-South Tyrol. The event takes place in the small village of Verschneid, nestled at an altitude of approximately 1,100 meters on the Tschögglberg plateau, between Bolzano and Merano. It is one of those authentic village festivals that define the summer in German-speaking South Tyrol: live open-air music, locals and visitors coming together, traditional cuisine, and a simple, genuine atmosphere.
The Musikkapellen are the heartbeat of cultural life in South Tyrolean villages: volunteer brass bands that, dressed in traditional Tracht costumes, accompany the community's major religious and civil events. The Mölten band is part of this extensive network of over two hundred bands across the province, united under the Verband Südtiroler Musikkapellen. Throughout the year, the band hosts various events—from spring concerts to Advent performances—and Music Night represents the most informal and festive moment of the summer season.
During the evening, the musicians perform a varied and accessible repertoire: Tyrolean marches and polkas alternate with light music and concert pieces, appealing to audiences of all ages. While the detailed program for the 2026 edition has not yet been announced, the format remains the tried-and-tested village band evening. Alongside the music, there is the Schankbetrieb, offering beer, local wines, and South Tyrolean culinary specialties, making Music Night a true community celebration.
Mölten is a mountain municipality known for breeding Haflinger horses and producing high-altitude sparkling wine. Its hamlets—Verschneid, Salonetto, and Vallesina—are small clusters of farmsteads and chapels immersed in woods and pastures. Reaching Verschneid for Music Night is also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of South Tyrol, far from the main tourist circuits, where musical tradition remains an integral part of daily life.
Music Night 2026 will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 6:00 PM in Verschneid, a village in Mölten (BZ). The star of the show is the Musikkapelle Mölten, performing their traditional open-air brass concert in a festive village atmosphere.
The detailed musical program for the 2026 edition has not yet been published by the organizers. As per tradition, the evening will feature a repertoire of marches, polkas, and light music, accompanied by a refreshment stand serving beer, South Tyrolean wines, and local culinary specialties.
