The jazz festival spread across the villages and nature of the Peligna Valley
Muntagninjazz is one of the most original jazz festivals in Abruzzo: a widespread and roving event that brings great music to the villages, forests, and springs of the Peligna Valley, in the province of L'Aquila, every summer. Established in 2007, the festival involves about ten municipalities and dozens of different locations, transforming squares, natural theaters, woods, and reserves into open-air stages. In Anversa degli Abruzzi, a charming little village in the Abruzzo region, the festival finds one of its most spectacular settings.
The Anversa degli Abruzzi stop is dedicated to those who love experiencing music immersed in nature. It is a hike-concert held at the Sorgenti del Cavuto, within the stunning Gole del Sagittario Regional Nature Reserve, one of the most precious corners of the Anversa municipality. Participants walk along the reserve's trails to reach the concert site, where jazz blends with the sound of water and mountain landscapes. It is an experience designed to combine light trekking, musical listening, and the discovery of a unique environmental heritage.
Muntagninjazz is not just a series of concerts: it is a cultural project that enhances the territory of the Peligna Valley and the Abruzzo mountains. Alongside evening performances in village squares, the festival offers morning and daytime hike-concerts that guide the public through the most beautiful spots of the Majella National Park and surrounding nature reserves. This formula has made Muntagninjazz a recognized model of a widespread festival, capable of weaving together music, art, environment, and sustainable tourism.
Hosting a stop of Muntagninjazz also means discovering Anversa degli Abruzzi, a village that inspired Gabriele D'Annunzio for his tragedy La fiaccola sotto il moggio and serves as the gateway to the Gole del Sagittario Reserve. The combination of the small historic center, the Cavuto springs, and jazz music makes the day in Anversa one of the most beloved experiences on the entire festival calendar, in the heart of the province of L'Aquila.
For its twentieth anniversary, Muntagninjazz returns to Anversa degli Abruzzi on Saturday, August 8, 2026, with one of its most characteristic stops. At the Sorgenti del Cavuto, in the Gole del Sagittario Nature Reserve, a hike-concert will take place featuring Manoantica, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
The Anversa stop is part of the rich program of the 2026 edition of the widespread festival, which visits ten municipalities in the Peligna Valley from July 23 to August 22: Sulmona, Introdacqua, Capestrano, Pratola Peligna, Raiano, Pacentro, Anversa degli Abruzzi, Prezza, Campo di Giove, and Bugnara.
