About Mugello Agricultural Fair

The Mugello Agricultural Fair is the premier event dedicated to agriculture, livestock, and the traditional products of the Mugello area. Every year, the Foro Boario in Borgo San Lorenzo, in the province of Florence, welcomes breeders, agricultural businesses, exhibitors, and thousands of visitors for four days of livestock exhibitions, equestrian shows, conferences, tastings, and workshops for schools. It is an authentic showcase of the green heart of Tuscany, where rural tradition meets sustainability.

The agricultural festival in the heart of Mugello

For decades, the Mugello Agricultural Fair has been the benchmark event for the agricultural and livestock sector of Mugello, the vast Apennine valley north of Florence. The event takes place at the Foro Boario in Borgo San Lorenzo, the leading municipality of the district, and attracts breeders, farmers, families, and curious visitors from all over Tuscany and Central Italy. It is an opportunity to rediscover the deep bond between this territory and its rural vocation, characterized by pastures, forests, livestock farms, and genuine products.

Livestock exhibitions and local breeds

The heart of the Fair lies in its livestock exhibitions: cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry are showcased and evaluated by experts, in an event eagerly awaited by breeders and industry enthusiasts. Among the most popular attractions is the National Exhibition of Apennine Sheep, a showcase dedicated to a breed typical of the Apennines that tells the pastoral history of these mountains. There is also no shortage of equestrian shows and parades that bring the exhibition area to life.

Conferences, sustainability, and innovation

The Fair is not just an exhibition; it is also a forum for discussing the future of agriculture. The program includes conferences and round tables on topics such as agroecology, short supply chains, the quality of agri-food products, and the challenges of environmental and social sustainability. The event involves organizations such as CIA Toscana Centro, GAL Start, the Mugello Rural District, and the University of Florence, demonstrating an event that bridges tradition and research.

For families and schools

Significant space is reserved for children and schools, with educational workshops dedicated to cheesemaking, beekeeping, milking, sowing, and observing farm animals. Tastings of local products, street food, and the farmers' market complete an experience designed for the whole family, making the Fair an event to be enjoyed at any age.

A local heritage

Included in the event calendar of the Municipality of Borgo San Lorenzo and the entire Mugello region, the Mugello Agricultural Fair is much more than a trade show: it is a celebration of Tuscan rural identity, a meeting point for the community, and a showcase for local businesses. It is an event that, edition after edition, confirms the central role of agriculture in the life and economy of this land.
