Singer-songwriter music, art, and culture in the heart of the Monti Dauni
The Mountain Festival is a cultural event that lights up Roseto Valfortore, a small village in the Monti Dauni area of the Foggia province, in the depths of winter. For several weeks, the town turns into a widespread cultural laboratory where singer-songwriter music, visual arts, literature, and theatre intertwine within deconsecrated churches, squares, and stone alleys, offering residents and visitors moments of great intensity and engagement.
Promoted by the Municipality of Roseto Valfortore with the support of the Puglia Region and local cultural organizations, the festival demonstrates how even small towns in the Daunian Apennines can become hubs for high-level cultural programming. Concerts, presentations, exhibitions, and performances bring nationally renowned artists and passionate crowds to the village, sparking emotion, reflection, and new interest in this lesser-known corner of Puglia.
Listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, Roseto Valfortore preserves a charming historic centre filled with stone houses, carved portals, and stairways that climb along the Fortore Valley. The winter setting, with the village often dusted in snow and evocative spaces like the former church of San Rocco, gives the festival an intimate, cozy atmosphere—far from mainstream circuits but rich in authenticity.
The Mountain Festival is more than just a calendar of events: it is a project dedicated to local development that involves associations, curators, and residents. The festival combines singer-songwriter music with artistic and literary reflection, while celebrating the traditions and identity of the Monti Dauni. It is a unique opportunity to discover Roseto Valfortore during its quietest season, when the village opens itself to culture and connection, confirming the cultural vocation of this town in inland Puglia.
For several weeks in January 2026, Roseto Valfortore transformed into an open-air cultural laboratory, with music, visual arts, literature, and theatre events involving the churches and spaces of the Monti Dauni village. The festival, promoted by the municipality with the support of the Puglia Region, concluded on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the former church of San Rocco: at 6:45 PM, the presentation of the work «Cappella della Passione» by Andrea Petrillo, Cleonice Di Muro, and Alessandro Tommassone, followed at 7:30 PM by a concert from Enzo Gragnaniello, an artist capable of capturing the soul of the South with poetry, depth, and authenticity.
Roseto Valfortore is located in the Monti Dauni, at the northwestern tip of the Foggia province, on the border with Campania. By car, it can be reached by traveling up the Fortore Valley along the provincial roads of the Daunian Apennines; the nearest train station is Foggia, from where you can continue by bus.
Events are held in the village's historic centre, across various squares, churches, and cultural spaces such as the former church of San Rocco.
